Stafford is playing well, has already led his team to a Super Bowl victory, the Rams are considering what they’re going to do, and he’s paid substantially less than Dak. The crazy deals for Watson, Wilson, and Dak’s current deal has to make teams think hard about what they’re doing in deference to quarterback compensation.

Yeah I would agree. I think you are going to start to see some ideological shifting when it comes to how teams approach the QB position. The thought process seems to have always been that if you have a quality QB you should at least be good enough to make the playoffs. The problem is the top paid guys in the league (Dak, Burrow, Watson) all missed the playoffs, Cincinnati twice in a row. Meanwhile teams are finding guys other teams are dumping and making the post season....Darnold, Mayfield, Goff, Smith.

Outside of just a few guys I think we have a more level playing field when it comes to the QB position than we realize. The modern game seem to be less about the QB and more about the team in totality than it used to be.

Yes. I live in NorCal and that’s the rumor, but who knows? If he gets less than fifty million the trend is definitely going the other way. It’s more the Watson and Wilson deals that have teams gun shy of mega deals for quarterbacks. Dak’s is a lot of money, though.

I have noticed a lot of his fans are marked absent. And the two or three still here don't have much praise for the fraud like they use to. They are edging a little closer to the edge of the cliff and are about to jump. Sometimes it takes awhile for the slow to keep up.

32 years old and what have we gotten from him

Romo was 36 his final season and look what we got with him. We got the same number of playoff wins as we have with Dak with one less division title. The Cowboys aren’t going to get far regardless who they have at QB if they don’t improve their overall team. Mahomes looked like a scrub against Philly in the SB. We’re going to struggle year after year getting past Philly if we don’t dramatically improve in the trenches. Even getting past Washington is going to be a problem if they keep improving. The Cowboys don’t have a good team and the roster keeps getting worse. Not to mention Dak’s best years are behind him, especially coming off his latest injury.

If you have an elite QB you pay him like an elite QB, see Mahomes or Burrow or Allen

If you have an average QB who craps the bed under pressure you pay him like that not like an elite QB

That would be a huge change for the NFL though. Dak, Trevor Lawrence, Jordan Love, Tua, Herbert, Watson all got paid at or close to top dollar. All make more AAV than Mahomes or Allen. The NFL needs to put an end to just paying a guy because he is the next guy up.
