The Dallas Cowboys will need to be aggressive this offseason to get back to the playoffs. The team could bring a new superstar to their defense.

While listing landing spots for Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa, FanSided's Wynston Wilcox named the Cowboys. Bosa is in the final year of his contract and could be a trade candidate.

Bosa is a five-time Pro Bowler. He signed a two-year, $40 million extension in 2024 and could be looking to walk next offseason. If The Chargers are going to move on, they would be wise to deal him for a return.

Add him with Osa, Parsons, Lawrence, and add in Greenlaw into the Dallas positional group and see if the Eagles dominate all games.

According to rumors circulating on Twitter/X, LB Dre Greenlaw met with the San Francisco 49ers, and he is set to leave the team in free agency, seeking to be the top linebacker on a new defense.

DeMarvion Overshown was in the middle of a breakout season before injuring his knee. His estimated time for return is unknown, and he likely won’t be available for the start of the regular season.

Marist Liufau showed flashes of greatness as a rookie. He just needs to carry that over with more consistency in 2025.

Damone Clark hasn’t developed into the player the Cowboys hoped he’d turn into. He is solid on special teams, but hasn’t made the desired impact on defense.

Buddy Johnson is a practice squad hero who got some opportunity to play because of the injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. He is a career backup, and the Cowboys need an upgrade.

That would fill out team depth and open the draft for the future...say a top offensive Texas offensive tackle to move to right guard.

...tell Stephen to get his thumb out of his own mouth and get the future worked out now.
We will not be aggressive. They will resign Parsons. He is top 3 in jersey sales and the ROI is indisputable for Jerry.

We will lose Osa as I think Commanders will overpay to get him as their focus is not on a little difference in dollars but championships. Jerry will use Dak, CD and Parsons contracts to claim we are handicapped and not dip into high end of FA.

We have seen all of this before. He is already setting up the table to talk about it. We know it's coming.

Ismail was not worth the first overall either. It wasn't a particularly good draft but it underscored Jimmy's limitation to contribute to the college draft 3 years removed from the college game. Herman Moore was in that draft.

He zeroed in on UofM players when there were better players on the board. He did the same with James Francis and allowed the scouts to draft Emmitt when he was picked ahead of us.
That draft had a lot of question marks and no sure thing. Everyone is looking at it with hindsight is 20/20 glasses. Jimmy picked martland because he knew what he is getting. A solid good contributor but not a starter as opposed to shooting for the stars and high chance of missing.

Maryland was solid and good contributor but never a star. You can't argue with the results as qe won 3 superbowls with Jimmy's players

I remember as a kid it used to piss me off that both Swann who was with our recently departed division opponent Cardinals and Jimmie Jones a mid round picks would outplay Maryland. With Lockhart gone the LB play went in the toilet.

I did not like the pick then either.
You are complaining about players not picked after the fact. And forgetting we won 3 superbowls....

Who cares we missed on Swann. Does it matter? We won superbowls and lost narrowly in CCG to a team stacked with HOFers...

Why complain?

The late Harvey Martin and "Big" John Dutton were also stalwarts on those defensive lines during the 1970's. Charles Haley arrived in a 1992 trade with San Francisco.
Jethro Pugh was pretty stout too,,,, plus it's fun to say "Pugh"

I have a great John Dutton story....hadn't thought about it in years. Really nice guy, Randy White too. Good times!

No one is saying Maryland was worth the resources we used to get him. However, he was a very solid player who made the guys beside him better. Jimmie Jones being fresh was a major reason he made plays in the playoffs and crunch time. If you start Jimmie Jones, he isn't near the difference maker. Plus, he wasn't the greatest against the run, which makes Maryland the better choice to start as he was immoveable at DT.

Not the first time someone falls for a rotational type who comes in and makes plays because the O is worn out and susceptible to fresh legs.

I think a lot of that pick was around uncertainty of the players in that draft. Maryland was a known quantity and Jimmy had a plan on how to build a team and he adjusted it with the players he had. no one can argue with the end results. its never perfect for any team. I think a lot of folks have their hindsight glasses on.

the challenge for those folks is lets talk about 2025 draft. what would they do. how would they make trades. etc. and lets keep track of their opinions and see how they fair out in 3, 4 years. now, every squirle finds a nut now and then. God knows I have done the same and then gloated about having done so. but majority of what I assumed in drafts or player ability was based on internet pundits (building consensus), and guess work and most often wrong than right. so if anyone is going to complain or gloat about what ifs, then I am 1000% sure there are 10 times as much guesses they had that were wrong.

we've had some great de/dt combo's in our history:
☆george andrie/bob lilly
☆too tall/randy white
☆tolbert/maryland
☆ware/glover
☆ware/ratliff
I'm pretty sure Glover wasn't here when we drafted Ware. His DTs were Spears, Canty, Ferguson, Ratliff, Bowen, Hatcher ... although several of those were DEs in the 3-4 while Ware was an OLB. Maybe you meant Ellis?

People tend to nitpick on individual things that didn't pan out great and not see all the other moves that worked out. This is also a hindsight is 20/20 approach. At the time there was a lot of unknowns and Jimmy said it was a draft full of unknown and maryland was going to be great and his floor was high and he knew what he was getting and a sure thing and something he could work with.

Maryland was never spectacular but always good. You can't argue with the results as we won 3 championships with Jimmy's players.

Draft is not an exact science.
was he worth the pick? NO. Was he a very good player for years with us? YES. Anchoring the D line against the run is pretty important that some here want to ignore.

must be. Ellis later got shifted to OLB and promptly had a career year. HE kind of got quiet about the switch after that.

Tell us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Randy told me some good ones when he would come down and host camps for me....I can't share those, most were about former players.....lol
I met Dutton when I was in HS at a charity basketball game, Drew Pearson hit a half court shot on that game....about 10 years later I'm at South Padre Island for a basketball clinic....we went out for some drinks. Walked into a new place and paid my cover charge....the guy working looked very familiar...went and sat, ordered a round....the guy at the door walked by...tall, lanky blonde.....I called a waitress over and asked her....who is that guy....she said, he's the owner, John.......he walked by and I asked him, are you John Dutton? He smiled and walked away. minutes later he comes back with 2 pitchers of beer. Sat with us for about 2 hours and just shot the sheet.....it was a fun night!

Washington has a lot invested at DT already (Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, and the guy they just drafted, the name escapes me). Signing Osa to a big deal sounds like overkill for them.

hmmm. perhaps. unless they cut one of those guys....I don't know their teams make up.

Jellystone has nothing on the King Ranch in South Texas...do you agree @CCBoy
The King Ranch had a Triple Crown Winner and the first American Breed of Cattle, the Santa Gertrudis. They have a second breed now and was once the largest ranch in the world. They were important in the development of federal involvement in disease control also. Huge oil production and fruit industry in Florida. Pancho Villa even tried to raid their home outside of Kingsville, Quite a ranch alright. They donated the land for Kingsville. The Kings even relocated a while town from Mexico to serve as their ranch hands. The Klebergs and Kings were very impressive in the state of Texas.

All I get from this is you think that because those Super Bowls happen the team could have made no mistakes.

Maryland for several top 50 picks and a pro bowler was not a good deal. We had to spend another first rounder to draft Robert Smith to replace the pro bowler. Maryland was a 2 down player.
