Prescott believes the team is close to winning

What is he supposed to say?
"This team has a lot to prove. We understand the frustration the fans feel, we feel it as well. All the feelings we can muster don't mean squat, though. Anything I say here doesn't mean squat, though. The only thing that matters is the results on the field. The only thing we can do is shut up and get to work. The results of that work will do all the talking. Good, bad or otherwise."

or something like that.

He doesn't have the brain power to think like that, he is just a me, me, me type of person.

HE DID. Geeeezzzzz, how does no one remember that Dak agreed to the contract and then renegged? It was big news.

Agree w/ everything else.
That this goes completely ignored is fascinating. Jerry tried to sign Dak to a very competitive deal starting the second the rules allowed him to. He then tried again the next season. Prescott turned him down knowing full well waiting until some other guys signed would greatly increase the market and benefit him.

The narrative that Jerry screwed up by not trying to sign Dak earlier is one of the biggest fallacies circling this fanbase.

When they’re the top paid - by far - at their position, the ‘vitriol’ and expectations will be raised accordingly.
What is your definition of "by far"? $5M/yr? $9M/yr? The other teams in the top 10 of these list, found ways to pay their qb's, build a talented team around them so they have a chance to win in the playoffs AND WIN THE SUPERBOWL.

but yep all on Dak.
So it’s all about just one year in your mind? Is your view that myopic and limited?

Dak Prescott has been in the NFL for 9 seasons now, not just 2024/25.
So you're saying there were multiple years/teams Dak has had like the 24/25 Chiefs or Eagles? Name them.

Better yet name a SB winning team in the last 9 years that the Cowboys had a better overall team than.

Yup. He was also trained to talk in those types of clichés and soundbites in his Workforce Leadership classes.

He is a poorly programmed robot.

And he made sure he took as much cash as he could so we couldn’t surround him with the same type of players
The players make Dak better
Dak doesn’t make his teammates better
Dak made $9M more this year than the SB winning Jalen Hurts. Thats not enough to break a team... or is it?

The players surrounding Jalen made him better.

That is an interesting question. I will not address the overall talent of any given team. However, I would say Dak Prescott has performed in the 2016, 2018, 2021, 2022 and 2023 postseason at or below the overall talent of those seasons' rosters.

My opinion is completely not based on statistical data. It is strictly from my football perceptions of comparative postseason performance between Prescott and his teammates during actual playoff games. However, I would add that I feel Prescott has played some regular season games during his career, in which he performed at or above his teammates' performance level also.
Hmm so in a game where the defense allowed 278 rushing yds, it was Dak who didnt.... lol nevermind. You got it.

uh oh. My thoughts have been singled out for a game. Now I gotta go check out stats after I had already said I "My opinion is completely not based on statistical data". Thanks. A lot. Will be back.

You just blamed every playoff loss on Dak lol... but like I said you got it.

I never stated any such thing. You may have confused what you believe you have read from me with another member's post.

Question: Is your previous 'where the defense allowed 278 rushing yds' comment referring to the Divisional round game versus the Rams? I would prefer being certain whether my reply relates to your post.

You are spot on about Hurts and this past year but he is going to hit this year around 89 Million

I don't think Dak could have answered this question right.

Calling the Cowboys close drew this reaction. Saying they are far away will have people accusing him of throwing teammates and coaches under the bus. Blaming himself will have fans calling him greedy and bringing up his contract and so on.

Dak had several poisons to pick from when answering.

That isn't how the cap works. Dak's 89 million hit does not take an 89 million bite out of the cap. The structure of the deal allows a huge portion to be paid as a signing bonus that lets the Cowboys spread that 89 million over the next several years; and we all know the cap will keep going up anyway.

Dallas can lower Dak's actual cap hit to around the $30 million range by activating a built-in restructure.

But the Jones Boys want you to believe they are paying Dak so much they can't afford free agents. It's their excuse to be cheap.

I love when people hang on talking points at face value. When dealing with people that behave politico like the Cowboys train their organization it's best to ask why they are saying it and if your emotional response is being manipulated.

The defense was exposed that game, and Rod didn't have a clue on how to mix it up.

Offensively, though, they had 3 out of 4 possessions after their opening drive TD that were 4 plays or less.
Will I blame only Dak for that? No, but the offense vs the Rams sputtered and gave the defense no favors to catch their breaths or at least try to eat clock.

Dak went 5-5 with a TD to start, then 3-7 with a sack to end the first half.

Rams had a +20 TOP with the ball in the 1st half. Once again, I don't blame Dak for the defense inability to stop the run. However, the offense did no favors of their own when they had the ball.

0-2 in the opening possession in the 3rd for a 3 and out.

They went down 7-23 after the 3rd quarter opening possession.

Dak then found his groove again but it was purely catchup mode.

I don't claim to know everything, but I would bet my last dollar that JJ will find a way for Dak's cap hit to be significantly less...

Once again you are correct
They can continue to kick the can down the road which lead them to have to resign him instead of taking a 40 million dead money hit
