Prescott believes the team is close to winning

Once again you are correct
They can continue to kick the can down the road which lead them to have to resign him instead of taking a 40 million dead money hit
The dead money should be less of an issue by 2029 when the cap will be way, way higher than it is now.

Also, every team needs to deal with dead money. If the Cowboys ever truly want to go "all in" like the Rams did a few seasons ago, they spend what they need to spend, win another Super Bowl, and then deal with a bad cap later.

Jerry and Stephen don't want to do that. They want to keep massaging and managing that cap so they have no dead money ever. So we keep getting the same product on the field over and over.

i'll give him a bit of a break since he's forced to answer football questions during a children's cancer fund event.

but his answers definitely reflect what jerry believes about this team.
Same, we've been bagging on Dak for so long we should give him a break once in a while. Jerry did make him fabulously wealthy after all so a little support is understandable.

The defense was exposed that game, and Rod didn't have a clue on how to mix it up.

Offensively, though, they had 3 out of 4 possessions after their opening drive TD that were 4 plays or less.
Will I blame only Dak for that? No, but the offense vs the Rams sputtered and gave the defense no favors to catch their breaths or at least try to eat clock.

Dak went 5-5 with a TD to start, then 3-7 with a sack to end the first half.

Rams had a +20 TOP with the ball in the 1st half. Once again, I don't blame Dak for the defense inability to stop the run. However, the offense did no favors of their own when they had the ball.

0-2 in the opening possession in the 3rd for a 3 and out.

They went down 7-23 after the 3rd quarter opening possession.

Dak then found his groove again but it was purely catchup mode.
When a defense allows rushing like that, not only does it demoralize the team, it takes alot of time off the clock. Time that could've been used to get in a better rhythm.

Anyways, my intent isn't to argue back and forth with everyone, nitpicking about fault in each game. My main point is, with better talent around a qb, the better chance they have in the playoffs. Also when a team has talent, they all have to perform well in the playoffs... not just one player. As we just saw with the Chiefs and Eagles and every SB winning team.

What is your definition of "by far"? $5M/yr? $9M/yr? The other teams in the top 10 of these list, found ways to pay their qb's, build a talented team around them so they have a chance to win in the playoffs AND WIN THE SUPERBOWL.
$5 million a year certainly qualifies. Especially for a player who’s never won anything.

but yep all on Dak.

So you're saying there were multiple years/teams Dak has had like the 24/25 Chiefs or Eagles? Name them.
I’m saying that it’s not just about the 24/25 Chiefs or Eagles.

Better yet name a SB winning team in the last 9 years that the Cowboys had a better overall team than.
Rams, Patriots, Buccaneers, and at least one version of the Chiefs.

But you’ll try to deny it.

Congrats! :) At least you got a response. ;)

You really love Dak, huh? The question is, why?

A $5M/yr difference doesn't or shouldn't stop a team from building around their qb, yet it somehow breaks JJ and Stephen. Like I said to someone before, the Eagles built that team with a $9M/yr difference between Hurts and Dak.
Rams, Patriots, Buccaneers, and at least one version of the Chiefs.

Maybe... then you think of the how those teams played up for each other in the post season and don't let me get started on the differences in coaching lol

Nope. Acting like Dak is the only problem is just interesting to me.
Like I said, why? Why are you so interested in that loser? Nine years and a ton of money is all he is about.

He is broken mentally and physically and won't last the season, yet you are trying your best to stick up for him for some reason. Why? You love him is all I can come up with.

If you want to blame Jerry and Stephen, feel free, you’ll get no argument from me.

But that doesn’t absolve Dak from his deserved share of blame.

Again, no argument from me there either.

But, again, Prescott deserves his share of blame as well.

I talk about building a good team around Dak. That also works if and in your case... when he sucks. So in case we do move on from him, we don't have to start all over. Especially if he's all those things you just said... I'd think you'd agree with me.

You adding all this "why do you love Dak?" hyperbole isn't doing what you're intending.

I also think a qb doesn't have to do everything, but people here seem to believe otherwise.

Well, I'm all for Dak to hit the bricks out of Dallas as soon as it can happen. I would rather build a team around a legit QB, not a fraud. It's been nine freaking years, dude! Get real.

I would put money on if Dak were on the Eagles team that won the SB, they would not have won because Dak cannot do what Hurts does.

I agree.

Now point me to the threads blaming every single player/coach thats been on the cowboys the last 9 years, they didn't hold up their end either... I guarantee you they pale in comparison.

Of course they didn't get paid as much as Dak, but that excuse doesn't hold water since qb's literally cant do everything.

So they shouldn't try build a team now so they're primed and ready? You know, since better qb's are so easy to find.

Actually, it does.

The higher the pay, the higher expectations.

It doesn’t matter whether you like it or not.

Yet teams that actually win Superbowls build around their qb's, no matter how talented they are (Mahomes, Brady) or how much they make (Hurts).

Its almost like yall are more content with blaming Dak, than with winning SB's.
