Randy has been away from the game for too long. Him getting reinstated is not big news. The new CBA however, is big news and it will help other players. The players union better not take too long to approve this agreement. Football in 2021 will be so much better.

Just how exactly will football be so much better if players can't be suspended for weed when it's only legal for 7 teams that are in those states that it's not illegal to use? So you're and the league will be saying is that the league supports players that break the law in the states that most of the teams are located? Maybe then the NFLPA should also get the personal conduct policy removed and get all the money back to the player fines for those that have gotten drunk and were convicted for DWI and then suspended by the league under the personal conduct policy. Or how about the players that were suspended for breaking the law of spousal abuse? Should they get their money back? If other employers can terminate employees that fail drug test should all employers just stop their policy against the use of weed? The courts have already ruled that employers that are in the states where weed is legal can still terminate for use if it's in their written policy. I work for a company that can and does terminate for use and it's probably been 10 years since I have used because I don't want my boss suspecting that I'm using or my random test comes up and requires me to go pee in a cup and then I get fired.

Many law enforcement agencies around the country are giving tickets for small amounts of weed. So the NFL seems to be doing the same. They'll more than likely fine a player for testing positive instead of suspending him.

Just the way it is.
The nfl is giving in to this to get something else like more games. All they care about is how much
more money can they make, few billion just isnt enough lol.

Because everyone but heads stuck up their *** politicians know that marijuana is so much less dangerous than real drugs. In fact it has tremendous medicinal value. Just ask those of us who served overseas. Ask those NFL players who smoke it to relieve pain. Get off your high horse and do your own research.

That's called DUI and those drivers also get their driver license suspended that goes with that fine just like the NFL used to do. My neighbor just 2 weeks ago got his license suspend after getting stopped and given a DUI and now has no license for 6 months.

Is it DUI if you're walking down the street? Is it DUI if you're chatting with a neighbor in your yard?

I didn't say anything about operating a vehicle in my post. I just said they are giving tickets now, for small amounts of weed.

Yes many people use weed for pain or other medical conditions like cancer and glaucoma but none of those people are playing a extreme contact sport. You also omitted the fact that medical studies have proven that using weed slows reflexes and affects memory both very much needed for football. Should employers that employee people that use heavy equipment stop testing for drug use that includes weed? Those policies are there for the safety of the employees. It's not being on any high horse if you understand why there are policies against using weed or why there are still laws for being Under the Influence while driving or DUI.

You are correct on that. But now I'll ask you if those same people ever then get in their cars to drive?

I don't think anyone is proposing using weed during the games.

In 2018, he surprised observers by becoming a reliable defender on one of the best defenses in the league, after missing most of the previous two seasons (30 out of 32 games) because of suspensions. He was a backup right defensive end behind Tyrone Crawford, that played mostly on passing downs. He started in the season finale against the New York Giants, when Crawford sat out to rest for the playoffs. He played in 14 games, recording 25 combined tackles, six sacks (second on the team), and two forced fumbles. The Cowboys had a 6-0 win record in games where Gregory registered a sack.
Count me in as one of those excited to see Gregory on the field again. Between now and training camp I hope he takes the opportunity to get in football condition, if he isn't already. He can make a difference on the defense!

Been away from the game too long, waste of time......I don't understand comments like that at all. Gregory is a playmaker and you can always use those type of players.

Might finally get some dividends from our 2015 2nd round draft pick. Hopefully he makes more of an impact on the game than getting a boneheaded penalty giving our opponent a chance to score before the half that they otherwise wouldn't have had. Let's see how long it takes him to get up to speed again.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...ownership-approves-terms-of-potential-new-cba

-- Penalties would be reduced for players who test positive for THC, eliminating any game suspensions strictly for positive tests. The testing window for THC would also be narrowed from four months to two weeks at the start of training camp, and the nanogram limit would be increased from 35 to 150.

**********

For me, that reads as a positive marijuana test will not result in an automatic suspension but some unspecified circumstances involving marijuana use could still be penalized.
