Now your playing hindsight. Who was more highly ranked going into the draft? Gregory. He was considered a top 10 player. And in 2018 he played very well. Let's hope he can get back into the league and playing like that again. He can really help the Cowboys win games.

His ranking dropped due to his issue with pot. He was considered a top 10 player until his positive tests. The worst fears with him came to fruition. Regardless what happens from this point on he’ll never reach the level he could have reached due to repeated suspensions that have kept him away from the team. The Cowboys haven’t seen him in over a year. He’ll turn 28 next season and has missed a lot of football that’s hindered his development. His best years have been wasted undergoing rehab. With the new lenient rule on pot he’ll be high all the time being fined if he is reinstated.

Exactly my point. They got heat for signing Greg Hardy.......there was no chance in hell they were going to draft him after that.

They signed Hardy a month before they drafted Gregory. They knew before they signed Hardy they would take some heat but that didn’t stop them. Frank Clark had some issues including a domestic violence incident and he also stole a laptop but Danielle Hunter went in the third round. He’s had 15 more career sacks than DLaw. He’s coming off back to back 14.5 sack seasons with Minnesota. The bottom line is we need to steer clear of players who have drug, medical or off the field issue concerns especially with premium picks.

While the NFL may start turning a blind eye, that should not be conflated with the legality of the problem. It is still illegal to possess weed in something like 46 of 50 states. So, even if the NFL is not testing, there is always going to be a literal and figurative cloud of smoke around Randy. I regard anything we get from him as a bonus and the cowboys should not rely on him to lock down any position for any length of time.

Weed is fully illegal in only 8 states (and the NFL only has a team in 1 of them); in the other 42 states, weed is either legal, not prosecuted (decriminalized) or medical. It is the reason the CBA is dropping suspensions for it; if you can’t/won’t be prosecuted for it, you shouldn’t be suspended for it.

You are arguing for the case of drafting Frank Clark. I'm not arguing for or against that. I'm telling you what the Cowboys perspective was. They came under heat for signing Hardy who hadn't been charged with the crime but everyone assumed he did it. Plus he was a scumbag. They probably should've stayed away from Gregory. I had no problem with it because it was like the 50th pick. To me it was a low risk high reward type deal. It hasn't proven to be.

You’re arguing. The Cowboys knew they would come under heat for signing Hardy, they said so themselves. You’re acting like they had no idea that would happen. Frank Clark is one of the players I mentioned that turned out better than Gregory who the Cowboys could have drafted. Danielle Hunter is another player I mentioned who the Cowboys could have drafted that not only turned out better than Gregory but has been better than DLaw. I don’t believe in taking gambles on high risk players in the second round. That’s a premium pick and you need to make a safe selection to improve your odds on hitting on it. I have no problem taking gambles in the third round on but not with one of your first two picks.

I'm not arguing anything. I'm not even sure what you're doing. Is this you rueing guys we should've signed? Because if so trust me you aren't getting arguremnet from me. I'm not gonna sit here and rue over guys we should've gotten.....I'm sure the list of guys got lucky to get is just as long if no not more.

Cowboys took Gregory with the 60th pick. 5 spots from the 3rd round. Essentially a 3rd round pick.

II’m not rueing over anyone. All I’ve done is point out some of the players we could have selected instead of Gregory. Anytime a draft pick doesn’t work out especially a high draft pick you’re going to look back at players you could have selected that turned out better. We’ve done that with Taco. If I recall this debate started with you. You responded to a comment I made. Most fans have come to grips that Gregory has been a bust. All we’ve done the past five years is talk about his drug suspensions and pending reinstatements.

Every year it’s the same thing with him. Gregory’s uncertain future caused us to have to select Taco in 2017. One bad pick led to another. We need to use our second round picks more wisely. If you’re going to have a good draft you need to hit on your first two picks. The draft becomes more of a gamble once you get past the second round.

4 States, 42 States...... same thing. Six of one, half dozen of the other.....

What if he did? He would be ready to go at the kickoff.
Mark Stepnoski played high all the time by his own admission.
I don't think I heard people complaining about his play.

Exactly. I wish that I could partake but my job has a zero tolerance policy.
