These guys are so stupid. They KNOW FOR A FACT they are going to make a deal with Dak so why not just get in a room, stop posturing and figure it out ! Didn’t they learn from the Zeke deal what that does to the team morale having to listen to all the outside jabberig from the press? So stupid ! :banghead:

That is not correct. A tag does get superseded by a new deal, if it's in place before the start of the season.
The tag in the first year is most likely cheaper than the deal Dak will be getting. Why would the Cowboys agree to pay Dak even more in 2020 when they alreday have him at a cheaper price for a year? Think about it.

good point. do you have a link to the new approved cba that states the changes to the franchise tag? i hadn't seen it mentioned as a big change to the cba.
Yeah, the whole new CBA was posted somewhere. We can both go look for it.

The issue years and the guaranteed money. Not the AAV. $35 million for four years would get it done if they would give him the guaranteed money.

If we can believe reports, the Cowboys have offered, at least 34, with 105 guaranteed. I mean, that's pretty much all three years guaranteed so I don't buy the whole guaranteed up front argument. That's really 35 for three years.

If I'm Dak, I move on to a more respectful owner and front office. Cousins, Goff, and Wentz all got paid..... but Dak who's better than all of them CAN'T get paid???? We don't DESERVE Dak!!!! If this was Romo, he would have BEEN paid his rightful due. Let that sink in.

because a tag goes DIRECTLY against your cap as the entire hit of $31M. At least with a long term deal you can soften the cap hit, something low the first year like 15M or so

By being forced to use the tag on Dak instead of another player he's already hurting this team...........not really a team player or showing good leadership.

Geez man, you're like Sean Michaels after losing his smile. What happened to you?

that and prices are going up not down. look at tannehill and cousins' newest deals.

using the franchise tag subsequent years spikes. that's why the starting point for a deal is what 3 years if the tag will cost.

Extremely disappointed with the Cowboys not getting a deal done with Dak. He's only made 4 mil in his 4 year career and gave the team everything he had playing hurt, working hard to improve his craft, being a leader on and off the team and representing the franchise as a QB should. The Jones have shown some serious disrespect for Dak and I'm afraid it will have lasting repercussions.

The point is they had more pressing needs - whether you like him or not, stability at QB is way more important than signing your MLB a year early.
Your point doesn’t matter because the team were ok since the deal benefits them. Don’t see why this is soo hard for you to get. I don’t like Dak as a qb and who cares about stability when it’s eh anyway? That’s for the scared people and I’m not that. Dak isn’t good enough to worry about stability. Any Alex Smith level qb could put up comparable stats with this team so honestly expletive stability. Can’t wait until one team has the guts to tell an average qb no and have success that way so the rest of the sheeps will follow suit.

Guaranteed money paid up front goes directly in the players bank account is a cap hit as well.
