How is Crawford still on the roster?

Amid all of this team's moves, how is it that this guy is still sitting here counting $9.1 million against the cap?

Word is they reworked Zeke and Collins' contracts to free up money. Why has nothing been done on this obvious mistake?

I know it's me, and I know it's beating a dead horse for me, but it's also a valid question!

For all of the good moves they have made, why is nothing being done here?

Why has this team not make the painfully obvious move of doing something about this contract? Other teams have made measures to cut costs and dead weight, and out worst contract sits on the books? Why?

I'm surprised that Crawford's contract hasn't been terminated or at least restructured by now. There's just no way his cap # as is can be justified.

If they were going to cut him, would it make a difference whether it was today or next week?

The players that restructured already are those they for sure plan to keep

Ask yourself, are there players available "today" that won't be available "next week"

Were there players signed yesterday or the day before? The answer is yes.

Now I will ask you to answer a question.

What is any advantage to be gained in waiting? For the team, or for the player's future employment?

Somehow, I can't get anybody to give me an answer on this, maybe you'll be the first?

No, you have been given the answer repeatedly. The team has about 20 Million in cap space and can create 30 Million more in a half hour. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to prioritize cutting or restructuring Crawford over signing outside free agents.

So give us the answer we keep asking for - who is the 30 Million dollar a year Free Agent we are going to miss out on?

We doing this again? OK, you're clearly a glutton for punishment.

Answer the question of the benefit to keeping the contract? You know, the one you duck at every turn. Answer it. What's the gain?

I can give you a list of names that could help this team that have signed elsewhere, while this anchor remains.

While you once again still can't give one valid reason why they're keeping him and this contract.

Even excusemaker #1 is stumped.

The FO is playing this well.

Jerry: take a pay cut or we will release him.

Agent: no thanks. Cut him now in prime FA time please.

Jerry: no I think I'll hang on to him and ask you again once teams have spent all their FA dollars and signed other DL.

Does that not make sense when the team doesnt need the cap room today?

This way, they have a chance to keep the guy at a lower number, and sorry, but they need him.

To do what then? Spend the money on free agents that aren't there? Or to pile it up to roll over the following year while you don;t have players for this year?

You destroyed your own attempted argument.

Do you honestly think that teams will be beating down the door to sign this aging, overpaid player who missed last season after double hip surgeries?

Is that what you're claiming?

The fact is that nobody would be dumb enough to pay this guy half of what Dallas is. Teams are signing starters for less than half of his current cost. Have you noticed that?

Not really. If you're a player asked to take a pay cut, and you're not inclined to, would you rather the team cut you now or hang on to you until well into camp, or maybe cut you in late August?

Relax there sir. No, I dont, but Crawford is way better off hitting the market now than later, and they dont need the cap room at the moment.

I don't particularly care what this player wants.

But yes, it makes far more sense to get out into the market now when teams have money.

That aligns with my point of why things should happen now. Better for the team, better for the player. More options for both.

Thanks for the help.

I'm fine, just emphasizing.

They sure as heck don't need it later do they? After the free agent market has dried up?

Again, nobody can give a valid reason why it's not being done now. And you mention yourself how it's best for the player.

They will do it and I've been saying that for a year. So has everyone else in North America. Answer the question - WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE DONE THIS WEEK? WHO IS ASKING FOR MORE MONEY THAN WE ALREADY HAVE AVAILABLE?
