Dak is like a needy son-in-law

Here is my analogy of the debate about Dak as our QB..

It's sort of like you have a daughter. She is getting married. The guy does not make alot of money. You try to tell your daughter this and that she will probably struggle her whole marriage.

But she insists and she marries him. You end up helping raise the kids because they are always broke and you have to keep propping up their family with money under the table.

After time goes by, there will be a divorce and the daughter and kids move in with you and you have to be dad and father and provider constantly. You do it becuz you love your family but what you really want is to have the daughter find another guy who can get the job done and not need constant help.

Now..what am I saying?

Ok..

Dak is the needy son in law, he wants to succeed but he needs a ton of help. You as the owner GM like your son in law and want his daughter to be protected and taken care of.

So you spend like crazy to put players around Dak and pay DAK to succeed.

But it is a constant and ongoing process and things just do not get to a closure of a title for the team.

We did this once already with Romo. Jerrah is doing it again with Dak.

I am not a Dak hater. I am a Cowboy Lover.

I wish there was a better scenario but there is not.

So we as fans sit..and wait.

And worry and spit nails and debate.

Lets see now. If the defense hadn't allowed TWO running backs to rush for MORE than 200 yards chewing up yards and clock and scoring TD's the offense when they finally got the ball wouldn't have been forced to go for it on 4th downs and turning the ball over if they thought they would get the ball back with any time left. If you don't see that the defense was what cost that game then you are just about the only person who doesn't. Even people that aren't actual Cowboy fans have said it was the defense that lost that game. Being a Prescott hater you can't see that there have been a lot more reasons for the Cowboys failures than Prescott.

Franchise QBs pretty much always get built around, though. And if you have just invested in a guy like Zeke, it makes sense to build around him too. They want to keep a stranglehold on that #1 ranked offense!

I can also name the Patriots, Saints and Eagles, any of those games could have been won with the best QB in the league.

What's amazing to me is how awful the coaching was last year. We were just throwing games away week after week.

That's true. I've only been talking about the remainder of the team also contributing to the loss, but the coaches easily contributed as well.

No, I didn't say that - again, you are spinning to fit your narrative. I've always said it is a team game, and you evaluate everyone on what they contribute to the team, not by record.

You don't have to be #1 in the league to get #1 money when the pay scale is always going up, *and* you're a young guy good for 2 more contracts.

That's a shift of gears from what we were talking about, but ...

No, of course I don't think he's the best QB in the NFL. I've never remotely suggested he was. But that's not exactly the same question as what he deserves to be paid, because contrary to what some believe, pay is not a position ranking. It can't be because not every QB is negotiating a contract at exactly the same time under exactly the same market conditions. Pay is a function of what the market will bear, and is based on supply and demand. The bottom line is if Pat Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers were negotiating a contract today, they would easily surpass whatever Dak will get. But that's not the timing, and if Dak does end up getting paid more than any other QB it will be because market conditions are changing. QB salaries don't freeze until the best QBs negotiate their next contract, they keep going up.

Please go through all of my posts and find where I said Prescott deserves best QB money, although I have scoffed at those that say he should only get 25 mil a year. There also is a difference between what someone feels a player deserves to be paid and also understanding that the price for all players, especially QB's, goes up every year. I also understand that what you, me or any fan thinks what any player should be paid is 10,000% irrelevant to what Jerry or Stephen decides to pay them.

Your funny seeing how there are former players and coaches that have said that it looks like the Cowboys really got a seal in the 2016 draft getting Prescott in the 4th round. Why is it that Jerry and Stephen are afraid to draft another QB when they have said many times that Prescott is their franchise QB of the future. Why would they WASTE a high draft pick on QB when they feel they have theirs? Oh also the new head coach and new QB coach think that too. Because you from your couch don't like Prescott doesn't mean that the Cowboys don't like him.
