Dak is like a needy son-in-law

Here is my analogy of the debate about Dak as our QB..

It's sort of like you have a daughter. She is getting married. The guy does not make alot of money. You try to tell your daughter this and that she will probably struggle her whole marriage.

But she insists and she marries him. You end up helping raise the kids because they are always broke and you have to keep propping up their family with money under the table.

After time goes by, there will be a divorce and the daughter and kids move in with you and you have to be dad and father and provider constantly. You do it becuz you love your family but what you really want is to have the daughter find another guy who can get the job done and not need constant help.

Now..what am I saying?

Ok..

Dak is the needy son in law, he wants to succeed but he needs a ton of help. You as the owner GM like your son in law and want his daughter to be protected and taken care of.

So you spend like crazy to put players around Dak and pay DAK to succeed.

But it is a constant and ongoing process and things just do not get to a closure of a title for the team.

We did this once already with Romo. Jerrah is doing it again with Dak.

I am not a Dak hater. I am a Cowboy Lover.

I wish there was a better scenario but there is not.

So we as fans sit..and wait.

And worry and spit nails and debate.

Here's the first huge flaw in you little scenario. It's not just the Cowboys who think Prescott is a good QB. In case you missed it Prescott was rated as the number ONE free agent going into free agency. Just average players don't get the #1 rated free agent. Second all teams that have won a Super Bowl have talent on their team and there are teams that have talent that haven't won a Super Bowl so to say the Cowboys had to get talent to surround Prescott again all the winning teams have talent, but not all talented teams win because there is only one per season.

Not every team puts out absolute trash at receiver, like the cowboys had that year before Amari Cooper.

3 of the top 4 receivers on the team that year aren’t even playing in the NFL anymore. That’s how bad they were.

And to me..

I was always raised that in America, anybody can be President or QB of the Cowboys.

But you have to produce results to be elected.

Sort of clear.

If Dak wants all the money, all the commercials..wants to be our hero..

he needs to do something heroic.

He has not done that.

Idk the cowboys didn’t have average WR talent in 2018 pre Amari Cooper. They had bottom 5 WR talent.

I think Dak had a hand in that bottom 5 WR talent with his lack of accuracy. They definitely had average WR talent because last I checked most of them guys stayed in the league quite a few years and or they're still in the league. If they were bottom 5 talent they would all be out of the league or even been there as long as they have been there. They each have been in the league 5yrs or more. That's longer than the average nfl career so I'd say they are at least average. Dak needs top level talent to be this polarizing. I don't want to see a repeat of early 2018 again because it would get ugly real quick.

Neither of you are looking at the whole picture of Dak's career, but rather the most recent situation, and you are doing so in the context of all shortcomings of the team being Dak's fault, as if no other player or unit contributed to the shortcomings.

By the way, for the sake of accuracy, in the playoff game against the Rams Dak had 266 yards passing and 2 TD's (1 passing, 1 rushing), and no INTs. In other words, a strong game. Meanwhile you are ignoring the fact the Rams rushing for 273 yards is what cost us the game because that allowed the Rams to control the tempo and dominate the time of possession.

Most recent examples??? I looked at the least TWO SEASONS! Then you bring up his rushing TD in garbage time and 266 yards passing in a game they got taken to school in? If anything this proves my point that he is not the best player in the NFL. That is what he is asking for. That is what my point is.

Except, Dak is much more like the son-in-law who came into your daughter's life and helped hold the entire family together. I LOVED Romo, but he was the son-in-law that kept making promises to be there for your daughter and then couldn't show up. He wanted to, but just couldn't. SO MUCH PROMISE...without ever taking your daughter to the big dance. But, he was so likable that we are blaming the new guy because the last one didn't get it done.

Dak has done absolutely everything you could hope for coming out of the end of the 4th round. The entire family is healthier today that it was before the "needy" son-in-law showed up and swept your daughter off her feet. The whole analogy is based upon Dak being needier than any other QB, which he isn't.

I'm not in the pay Dak what ever he wants boat. I've been pretty steady about that. I think it's a mistake on Dak's part. But to write him off as sub-par and overly needy is absolutely ridiculous. I also think everyone is over-reacting to the salary cap implications. They just don't exist and the salary cap is going to rise faster in the coming years that it has in the past. The sooner he signs the better.
