Ruggs III is really, really good. He would scare the hell out of defenses if he went to the slot with Cooper and Gallup outside. He is so explosive, but what I like about him is his demeanor, his toughness, and his natural hands. Most speed guys doesn’t have the complete game and toughness that Ruggs has.
I love the guy’s game.
The only guys on that list that I’d consider over Ruggs is Kinlaw and Chaisson... and I’m not sure tht I wouldn’t go ahead and take the WR. Both of those guys could be gone by 17 anyway (almost for sure with Kinlaw) and I think there’s a very good chance that a WR could be BPA at that pick by a mile.
I don’t even think I’d take Jeudy over Ruggs either. Jeudy is a great route runner and great overall... but Ruggs is special with the ball in his hands. Might be the fastest guy in the league. McCarthy and Moore would kill defenses with Cooper, Gallup, Ruggs, Elliott, Pollard and Jarwin.
Yes, I know Dallas needs defense but who they take at 17 should be a part of the team for many years and I just don’t think the other guys are nearly as good at their positions as Ruggs is at his. Particularly Henderson, who I don’t like very much at all. Ruggs could be an absolute killer for the better part of the next decade.
Lamb won’t be there, but if he happens to be at 17 along with Ruggs, then I’d go Lamb... but that decision is a lot harder for me than you’d think. I love Ruggs. I love his mental makeup, his toughness, his football IQ and his game changing skills. The guy will change the way defenses play against Dallas.
I think he’s going to be a great player in the league for a long, long time. The only other one on that list of defensive guys that might be like tht is Chaisson, and that is quite a projection because he didn’t do it in college.
That’s my two cents.
