Definitely would have had another season.

Im not sure

Ratings were continuing to go downhill as well as attendance.

Ratings were decent enough though...the big test would’ve been if they were remotely relative once March Madness kicked in which we didn’t get to see.

That sucks for those guys. Top to bottom. I would like to have seen them get a chance.

He ran Wrestlemania, surprised he didn't just go ahead with this as well. Why not put more athletes in danger...

Personally, I don't believe the NFL wants an XFL type minor league because this is not basketball or baseball where the player has longevity. With the average career 3.5 years with injuries the NFL doesn't want their potential talent used up in a fruitless exercise. They feel that is what the NCAA provides. Also, they want their players trained year round in their systems and conditioned to be in the best shape for practice squads. I think the NFL will slowly expand rosters for such a reason. You already see them get up to 90 in camp. Expanded rosters TO A DEGREE may carry over into the season if more preseason is removed. The NFL really wants that 18th game so that they can run the playoffs until mid-February. After that you immediately have FA and the draft and then OTAs, and training camp so you have virtually year round exposure.

This is really disappointing. I truly enjoyed it and felt that it had a ton of potential. This whole Covid pandemic really screwed it over.

They were light years beyond on a bunch of their rules and loved the transparency of the officiating.

If you want to start a sub-NFL league you need at least 16 teams to maintain public interest for years to come. 8 teams is not going to cut it.

wow every single competing league I have seen in my lifetime (WFL, USFL, XFL, UFL and I feel like I am missing one too) plus the ones I have heard about from before my times (AFL, AAFC) all finished at least one season and had one official champion. Now we have two consecutive attempts unable to get through a single season (AAF and new XFL). Well the XFL probably would have if it wasnt for covid.

What caught my attention was the transparency of the officials and their calls in real time.

After a lifetime of secrecy with ref calls..

this was brilliant.

The only better thing would be if the viewer at home could do a poll in real time about whether they agreed with the call or not.

Add interactive features like that and football would be off the charts popular.

I do not think it would even be hard to do with technology today.

I wouldnt call it secrecy what the NFL does, its just that the new XFL (and also the AAF) televised the ref in booth live. Frankly I didnt like it, to me it did the opposite of what I feel was intended as I saw more things I disagreed with.

They lost all revenue and you could argue momentum. Better to close up shop vs. suffer heavier losses.

This is super disappointing

Really enjoyed the games... keeping track of new names that I knew were gonna catch on in the NFL

A minor league conference outside of the nfl and college football season is the best to keep developmental prospects groomed and help in the fall

The leagues ratings were falling before the current situation arose that stopped play. The first couple of weeks the ratings were respectable and began to decline week after week.
They did but numbers were still solid. That has nothing to do with what I said anyways. I loved the product.

that would be neilsen ratings, which are all estimated. But they rule even though their ratings are pure fantasy and estimates.

Ahhh..

The old "you are blind as a bat" thing.

I suffer that illness myself.

Yet I can see a pretty girl in a short skirt from 500 yards.

Wonder why that is?

:omg:

Their ratings were declining steadily every week. You’re one of the few who loved the product which is why the XFL once again shutdown.
