Help me understand something. When it's been suggested we trade Dak for two #1s, we hear no team would do that because they'd have to pay him. Now we're hearing several say let's give up our #1 and another pick to get a S that we'd have to pay big bucks to next year. Since when is a S more important than a QB?

People that think another team wouldn't give up two firsts for Dak are delusional.

They would give that up. Dallas has no interest in trading him

You want playmakers at all 3 levels of your D. D Law, LVE, and Adams is a very solid trio of players each capable of making game changing plays.

IMO— trading a 1st and 3rd is worth it since Adams has a good 4-5 years left (at least). He is a proven commodity, whereas players we would be taking at 17 are all gambles.

Losing the third rounder hurts, but the overall gain for the D is worth it. Quality over quantity would be a win for the whole unit in this particular case

+1....You're also getting a guy whose going be a certified leader and face of your D. Some may not agree but I've said his career stats so far and leadership qualities remind me of Darren Woodson. I compared their stats in another thread, very similar. In fact Woodson averaged 50-55 solo tackles over 12 year career. Adams in 3 years is averaging 70 per season. Woodson had 26 career forced fumbles. Adams already has 6 in three years.

Also......it's rare a teams win a Super Bowl w/o at least 2 elite players on both sides of the ball. We have DLaw and who else?? Of course I'm not giving the farm but if our main 2-3 draft targets are going before 17, I'd certainly call the Jets and offer 17 and conditional 2021pick (2nd or 3rd). If you can't draft the first 2-3 targets, maybe you start forcing things a bit.

He is an elite safety... but he also brings something we desperately need besides talent: an identity.

D Law and “the hot boyz” and Jaylon’s swipe are simply gimmicks. Adams however— is a field marshal on the back end and brings a ferocity, passion, and competitiveness we just don’t have.

Two premium picks and a huge contract is a steep price to pay— but Adams is the kind of defensive QB that makes his teammates better. If we want to change the culture on defense— bringing in an all-pro leader is a great way to start

:clap:exactly what you're getting with this kid. In fact, I thought it was interesting he said he's not trying to be the highest-paid anything. Just pay me what I'm worth......

Something else to keep in mind with regards to his contract, in two years we OUT Zeke, Jaylon, DLaw and Coop contracts.

It's not quite that simple. We'd also be looking at significant dead money in all of them to 'get out'.

Oh I know........but I still be surprised if we didn't move on from at least a couple of them. IF I had to guess right now, I'd say Zeke and Jaylon.

It's always good to have the option if things were to really go south. If I had to guess right now, I'd put Lawrence atop the list. $20 million plus for 5.5 sacks won't get it done.

Cowboys Trade
#17 and #82

Jets Trade
Jamal Adams
#120

I do that no question

I would also take #158 instead of #120 If they take #123 instead of #82
I would not even consider that
This team isn’t a safety from being good
It’s several players from being good
You trade premier picks and pay huge money
That’s just not how you manage the cap
You can’t give guys second contracts and continue to trade picks for more guys you have to them pay huge money

Amazing isn't it how fans forget about that statement. No way I give up multiple picks for Adams. It is the Jets that are trying to move him because they don't want to pay him so why pay the Jets some huge number of picks i.e. 3 picks or even a number 1. They need OL, so trade them Connor Williams straight up for Adams and call it a day.

And not just any safety... A strong safety lol.

If it were Minkah Fitzpatrick then I’d be all for it but I’m not trading a 1st rounder for a safety that isn’t an elite cover guy.

Dallas may want Adams but they won't likely agree to give two 1st rounds, plus what Adams wants in a contract. It's just too much!
