Crawford needs to restructure

We know this needs to happen but Dallas has to pick right time for it. Did they do enough in draft to make that call to Crawford? Gregory & Smith are still unknowns but Dallas did sign two DT in FA then added two more DL in draft. I think Dallas is close to having enough leverage to ask Crawford to cut his salary in half. Then Dallas has about $14 million to make run at Griffen?

Restructure does not mean pay cut. Restructure mean to push some of the cap hit into future years.

Renegotiate or pay cut are the terms used to describe the player taking less money.

If they were going to add Griffen, then they could just cut Crawford.

That would be foolish. Why take a 9MM cap hit for Crawford when he'd be relegated to a backup DT at this point and likely not play much to any DE at all?

They have 10MM in space now. They could cut Crawford and bring in Griffen, which would be a massive upgrade at DE, and still have that cap space cushion.
Can Griffin play 3T for them too?

Better use it where? They are under the salary cap....unless you think they want to bring in Clowney......

Anywhere! Use it now, bank it for later, the money still counts. What part of that are you not getting? Do you not know that they can roll over any money they save under the cap this year?

He could and has kicked inside in pass rush situations. And with McCoy, Gallimore they don't really need a third 3T. In fact, I bet if he's back, they will try him at DE.

So if they keep Crawford then his money wouldn’t come off the books?

Crawford will likely be asked to take a pay cut. I expect we'll take a wait and see approach on this until we have to make a decision about his roster spot. I'm not really seeing any 2 down RDEs on the roster - just a bunch of pass rushers. Unless we plan on sliding McCoy out some, there really no one who can be the run stopper

Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe.

Both.

Those two combined cost less than this bum does.

Something else you obviously didn't know.
So Crawford is a bum? Why? He was hurt last year, I get that but he's a solid player. Don't get the hate? That's why I think you're talking outta your butt

I’m not against letting Crawford go. I’m just shocked you guys are shocked he hasn’t went anywhere yet. Still time.

I am not shocked he's still here.

I think it's a mistake he's still here with that cap hit. Especially if they have an opportunity to bring in a real RDE like Griffen.

If they keep Crawford, it costs them his $8 million salary for this season. If they cut him, they save that $8 million.

I showed you what my issue is, it's the $8 million, while better players are playing for half that.

It still comes off the books next year.

I’m talking about next season. When he’s a free agent.

I'm talking about not wasting $8 million this year. Just like I talked about not wasting $10 million last year.

Do you think they got good return on investment then?
