Great post!

I knew nothing of Ben. So I spent over 2 hours reading about him and watching some videos Saturday night. I have to admit I was blown away and couldn't believe there was no news about him before the draft. It was easy to see why he didn't make it to post draft udfa territory. This kid can straight up throw the football.

Rush has every reason to worry about his roster spot. In fact, I expect him to lose it. Much of how DiNucci plays reminds me a lot of Romo. The same Romo moxie we saw for years was on video. I'm thrilled with this pick and can't wait to see him summer 2021 after a year in the system.
I thought of Romo as well.

His build is much a stereotype of the average QB. Somewhat similar to Brady now, only 2 inches shorter at 6'3''.
It's not a bad thing, really! That professional weight training will probably do him a world of good, though.

It does I’ve been looking at that thread for 15 minutes now lol. It is hilarious lol.

It’s always fun looking back at some of these old threads and seeing what everyone’s opinion was at the time. I posted on a board years ago where you could bump up old threads and relive them. The laughs we had! It was hilarious for some and a nightmare for others.

Wish they had a search feature here. They used to have one. I google keywords including “CowboyZone” to come up with old threads from this board.

I get that for some anyone but Dak seems to be their motto even a late rd pick. Myself I'm happy with the progress of Dak and feel he will continue to improve as the QB of this team. I heard time after time that it was Garrett that was the problem, it was claimed that he wasted Romo career yet Dak under the same HC was somehow to overcome it? Dak will have a chance to work under McCarthy and we will see how McCarthy and Dak work together

This is where I'm excited for Dak. He has a real coach to learn under.

Ok this doesn't apply to everyone

For one, we have no real backup QB and haven't unbelievably for more than just a few years, so there's that.

Second, Dak isn't signed and as of right now he could just play on his tag for two years, then what?

Yeah history and experience goes against his chances of being anything more than camp fodder, but he does have intangibles that you wanna see in a rookie. The fact that we just are one QB removed from a guy that came from a small school gives us all hope.

Not always about Dak

Well said

Is that the knock on him? He's 6'3. That's about what Romo was, right? To me this is an average body. Lol

He actually gives me Romo and Rodgers vibe instead of a Romo and Dak vibe. He kinda has that Rodgers swagger on the field.[/QUOTE

Said the same yesterday. Plays like Romo. but has subtle cockiness and LOS composure like Rodgers.

Let's hope he isn't a cheap copy of either.

Agreed in all those cases. What I could see is us bringing in a vet like Josh McCown as a veteran QB and having Dak as the obvious starter and DiNucci as the 3rd QB. Sorta like how we had Vinny Testaverde helping Romo.

Nope.

Dak proved it's better to stick with your own rather than bringing in a sure fire Trash QB.

I'd rather go with the unknown and take my lumps. A bum is a bum. Try something else- anything else.

Yep. False hope just like Mike White did. Hopefully he's a good backup. I know Dak's haters are praying at night someone comes up and takes his spot.....glad we got Dinucci and not Jalen Hurts in the 2nd round though.
That would have been counter productive. We need a good backup in case of injury. If the Cowboys really wanted a new QB, they would have one of the top guys in the recent draft by hook or by crook, and Dak would received a non-exclusive tender with right of first refusal.

I just did some of that back to when Garrett was hired. Wow wow wow.

The troubling part was that Jerry swore he would take a backseat and give him more control.

Lies!!

Bennie Dee Nooch.

Combination of Montana, Namath, Brady, with a little Mahomes in there....but slightly better.

Who says no??

We don’t know for sure if we don’t have a backup QB because Rush has never had to come in and take over. He could end up playing very well in relief of Dak who knows. If Dak were to play on the franchise tag the next two seasons, his future with the team will depend on how he plays those two seasons. We’ll be left with no choice but to either pay him or let him walk. I don’t believe it will come to that unless he doesn’t play very well this season. If he has any intention of holding out the entire offseason and not participating in any of these virtual workouts he could set himself up for a rough season. With a new head coach and offensive system he needs to participate. With everything we’re building on offense with the addition of a new HC and Cee Dee Lamb I just don’t see a scenario where we don’t pay Dak. Nothing we’ve done is going to function properly without him.
The Cowboys need Dak to succeed. And they need a good backup. Here's hoping Rush shows what is needed for that. If not, hopefully DiNucci has it. We won't know till they play.
