Part of why they offer so much guaranteed money is to spread it out. Would be interesting if daks team offered a contract with similar aav, less guaranteed over 4 years.

Don't be shocked if the FO lets the upcoming season proceed under the tag. Maybe they'll find out exactly what they've got!

That still doesn’t discredit the fact that teams with highly-paid QBs are proven to be less likely to win championships — which is the point of the OP.
Is that his point? Because the Cowboys ingested 32 million already in Dak and said they wouldn’t rescind it. So now they’ve invested 32 million and Dak and 3-to 7 million in Dalton.....you’ve invested 35 to 40 million already in quarterback. Actions speak louder than words Stephen.

TFB Steven you’re the one who put yourself in this position. You have overpaid your previous QB your current RB and WR. Your DE and your LB.

I don’t blame Dak for trying to get his an athletes opportunities are limited. He’s been playing on the cheap for 4 years now. And just like the previous QB you put a suspect defense and a average coach out there week in and week out and expected miracles

do I think Dak is a 40 mil QB no I don’t but it’s not my money and this should have been handled before the other 2
Thank you. Imagine overpaying every position and the the most important one comes up and you want to penny pinch? Or you want a 5 year deal instead of 4?

I know you’re in the habit of ignoring reason for the sake of argument, so I’m gonna just pretend that’s all you’re doing now. My post that you quoted is the point that Stephen was making, and it’s a valid one. I don’t know what your issue is with that, because it’s common sense.

Paying Dak $35-40mil/yr is gonna make it harder to compete for championships than if he were to agree to make $32mil/yr. It’s not a complicated concept and nobody NOT looking to argue would say otherwise.

The only Actions as you state is that the FO is unwilling to give him anything further than the Tag (1 season) at this point as its pretty evident there not SOLD on Dak as the future Franchise QB of the Cowboys!:omg:

P.S. And depending on what happens by July 15th don't be surprised if his tag is rescinded for the reasons you or I am not aware of.
In other words there leasing not buying....

I’m not looking to argue in looking for reason. Looking for actual answers. But I guess if you are willing to eat up what he sells than you aren’t willing to give those answers probably because they aren’t there.

According to reports they are willing to give him 5 years. He doesn’t want 5.

I had a emotion-based reply typed out, but I deleted it and instead, I’ll ask: what “answers” are you looking for?

Yeah well who was the dynamic duo who wasted his rookie contract with a dysfunctional staff?

What did you expect to happen?

And if you feel this way, why didnt you attempt to draft one two years ago and get ahead of this instead of being reactive to everything?

Who in the Dallas media dare ask those questions?

Come on Dak prevent defense garbage time Bortles Tebow Prescott is worth $35-$40 million a season. It's the intangibles - just look at how he played in week 16 last season versus the Eagles' third string in the only game that really mattered. Soak in his leadership skills - he commanded the huddle. Pay the man!

This man knows not to be fooled by the numbers. He actually watches the game.

It only hurts your chances when that QB isn’t capable of carrying the weight of the offensive load and doesn’t elevate others’ play.

Unfortunately for us, Dak can’t do either. So if we pay him what he’s likely wanting, it’ll be pretty tough to keep enough talent around to make up for all of Dak’s deficiencies

Another guy who watches the game instead of making up Cinderella story's.
