Griffen had 4 QB hits that game, credited with .5 sack, 1.5 TFL.
He gave Smith all he could handle that game.
Thanks for handling my 'light work'.

Ok, you addressed on position on the DLine, what about the rest?
They are deeper at DT than they have been. DE is a question mark. Overall, I reject the notion that they are dripping with unprecedented depth along the DL.
What more do I need to say?
When you have the opportunity to fill a hole, why not take it? This notion that you can't fill every hole is just preposterous. When an opportunity is there and you have the cap space to do it, saying, well, you can't fill every hole is kind of silly.
You only mentioned RDE, in your OP. I think they have good depth, and will probably add one more player.
What’s silly is it’s the middle of may and you can’t even practice while having just paid out a boatload in other areas including the impending QB contract and the other DE. Plus the D flat out sucked. But apparently they lost a few hall of famers? lol There’s a new coach and a new plan. Which likely doesn’t include paying top dollar at every position!

I focused on RDE but laid out the entire DE depth chart earlier in this thread. But even in looking at RDE, the fact we don't have a legitimate starting RDE doesn't speak well for "depth" at DE.
They have taken the approach that a bunch of bodies/DE by committee, will suffice it seems. That's the same logic that went into building the WR position in 2018. That a bunch of guys would be better than one proven starter.
It's clear that some fans don't like the fact of someone pointing out the team's obvious question mark at the RDE spot. Some even take it personally.
That's a shame.
It's funny actually. The best ones are the ones that claim Crawford can hold down the RDE spot.
I just can't..................
What?
Let's start with the last sentence. Point out where anyone in this thread said we need to pay top dollar for that position? In fact, most have said the exact opposite................. that there are options out there to get better at DE that won't cost you much at this point. Griffen likely would be a short term deal and not for a ton of money and he'd immediately be the best RDE on the roster.
What does paying Dak have to do with anything? We have the cap space to bring in a guy like Griffen or Golden or Bennett to sure up the DE spot.
What did Helman say?
The O line is pretty good mainly because we pump all our resources into it. To suggest the D line has good depth is laughable. Lawrence is a solid player. McCoy and Poe are aging stop gaps and we look at them as sure fire starters. Gregory and Smith are classic cowboy roster spots. No production required. Crawford is washed and overpaid. After that it only gets worse. Come on people open your eyes. There are reasons we fall short year after year.
You have to evaluate what you have, find and develop players who can produce cheaper. Have a long term plan. Not fill every supposed hole in free agency. It’s one step forward, 2 back. Golden won’t be cheap! And neither will the other 2. You’re still overpaying no matter how you slice it. The goal here should be assembling a better roster over the next few seasons. Not clamoring for every FA available or pretending this team is a Griffin, Bennett, Golden signing away from a Super Bowl. There’s a lot of holes here and a lot of work to be done.. and all will be addressed in a realistic time frame! Team never won a dam thing, now this one isn’t doing enough to keep up? lol
Here's an explanation.
You have one proven player in Lawrence. Here's the rest:
- Crawford is not a good DE. He's a DT trying to play DE and is likely better suited for LDE if he's a DE at all. We are going to try him at RDE it appears.
- Smith. Hasn't played football since Nov of 2015. People keep assuming he's going to somehow come in and just pick up where he left off.
- Gregory. Hasn't played football in over a year.
- Armstrong. Shown himself to be a decent backup player, which we can use. But that's it.
- Jelks/Jackson. Two practice squad guys that didn't show much last year.
- Anae. A 5th round rookie. Thinking he's going to come in and make an impact is probably optimistic. I like the pick but he should be viewed as a project and long term prospect.
That's DE. That's it. I know it hurts some of you guys to have to face reality but DE right now is not a strength. It's not deep. It's basically been put together with bandaids with the hope they will get lucky. It's kind of the same approach they used at WR in 2018 and that failed.
I think they should bring in Griffen, personally. He won't cost as much as Clowney, won't be overly expensive, probably would be a short term deal, and could slide into the RDE spot immediately.

Once again, another poster that is still living in fear because of the environment that the freckled puppet created! You do realize we don't need pro bowlers at every position to win right? We have a stable of competent guys to play opposite of dlaw. I think we should be more worried that the coaching changes will know what to do with our plauers or how to put them in the position to win!
Big Mike needs at least a full season to get things sorted out.
