Rising daily. Cam's still out there. What do you think the chances are of JJ rescinding the tag?

If you’re trolling, you’re not doing it very well.Obviously dak is being more than fair here.
Makes sense. His team wants a 4 year deal. They insist on a 5 year deal so they ask for a outrageous number like 45. Just give him the 4 year deal and get this over with.
That 45 number is for them to agree to a 4 year deal.
Or for them to run his *** out of town. He's being unreasonable and has been this whole time and that's the reason the deal isn't done. The Cowboys have never had this much problem negotiating with a player and its not because they've magically become hard ***** overnight.
IThe article covers this pretty well. Dak would prefer a 4-year deal. If they want a fifth year, he's asking for a contract $10 million higher than what they've offered ($185 vs. $175).
Sounds like
Cowboys offer: 5 years, $175, $105 guaranteed
Dak's offers:
4 years, $140 OR
5 years, $185
I don't know what the guarantees he's asking for are.
And that's why this is a bad deal. You say resign him like it would be that easy but what that effectively does is put the team at the mercy of CAA and France. That's what they want. If you extend him, that's when the team has zero leverage and Dak and CAA have all of it. The alternative is to simply allow him to leave via FA and get nothing back for him, while seeing the entire cap number hit the 5th year. That's a really bad deal and a bad place to be if you are the Cowboys and don't forget, we've already read reports that CAA wants part of a 5th year deal to be a no Franchise option for the team.
The Joneses have been trying to get a deal done but apparently his demands are too high. They’re sold on him but not for the amount of money he’s looking for. Coming off an 8-8 season hasn’t made it any easier on the Joneses to want to meet his demands. The thought that any QB would look great in this offense is BS. I don’t care how strong you are at the skill positions the QB matters a lot. The read option and Dak’s ability to take off and run, along with his toughness and durability has made the Cowboys offense difficult to defend. If the defense isn’t any better more of a premium is put on having a really good QB. Let’s say worse comes to worse and we don’t have a season this year and Dak doesn’t have a new contract, he’ll lose the money on the franchise tag.
We have to have a season for him to get paid on the franchise tag. He’ll be taking a huge gamble not agreeing to a new contract before July 15. If we have a season and he doesn’t play well or we miss the playoffs again for a second straight season, the Joneses could end up moving on. I have a feeling Dak and his agents are likely going to blink before July 15 and get something done. If not he’ll be making a huge mistake in my opinion.
QB salaries have been out of hand for sometime now. As is some of the other positions. This bs started with DLaw getting overpaid and the cowboys will get it wrapped upMost fans have one concern and it is overpaying one player and wrecking the salary cap for the entire team. Some fans act like overpaying is no big deal because it is not coming out of their own pockets. Any true fan with common sense should know the consequences of decimating the salary cap with one signing. The QB salaries have gotten out of hand and the league should be placing limits on salaries league wide.
Dak has a really smart agent. 5th year give Dak 45 mil or give Dak a 4 year contract. Either way Dak wins.
You don't remember the problems with Zeke last year? He was under contract and missed all preseason lol.Or for them to run his *** out of town. He's being unreasonable and has been this whole time and that's the reason the deal isn't done. The Cowboys have never had this much problem negotiating with a player and its not because they've magically become hard ***** overnight.
For those that think 45M will be a bargain in 4 years..
How do we know? For all we know, coming out of this pandemic (eventually), we could go right into a recession.
Again what has Dak done in his 4 seasons in Dallas to deserve that kind of dough? How many playoff wins again??
I advocated not resigning Zeke. But what's done is done. At least for now, I am a happy camper that Dallas is not agreeing to Dan's demands.
