I could see that, but most teams have already allotted their salary cap dollars. That scenario would have to line up with a team that had the need and the dollars to spend. Also the teams with the most cap space available are the bad teams like the Browns, Commanders and Dolphins where he might not want to play.

I'm curious as to what the team thinks they could handle salary-wise between a potential trade for Adams or the signing of a guy like Clowney for one year? I'd have to think that they would prefer acquiring Adams long term. He's a young, established player who you would be getting for the long term vs a one-year deal for Clowney to get paid elsewhere next year.

Another consideration are the unknowns that still exist regarding the upcoming season. Is this the year to 'go for broke' and push all your chips to the middle of the table?

1. Confidence level in McCarthy and staff
2. Confidence level in a normal season happening
3. Confidence level in the talent that you have already
4. Confidence level in your current and future salary cap situation

If they feel good enough about those first four factors, maybe it does make sense to make the effort and taking the shot at going all in?

Clowney and Griffen will likely need to wait to be signed until things clear up a bit.

Clowney would be a steal at even 1/10 IMO and I hope it happens.

If he busts, oh well. If he doesnt, we get a comp pick. Its win/win I think, but I like the guy better than most do. I dont find him to be much of a headache. He wants to win and that's what I want.

He was also offered a big contract by CLEV, and I think it was multi year also.

Clowney has not signed because he wants more than he's worth. No other reason. Your conjecture is way off base.

Saints have cam Jordan who made the all decade team and Davenport who's a stud first-round talent that's playing on an affordable rookie deal.

Cowboys like you said don't have a lot of money, already have a good amount of defensive ends on the roster, and are going through a coaching change

I never would of expected Clowney to be a FA at this point. I found the 20+mil wants by him unreasonable, but, still thought they could of landed a nice long term deal before april.

Sign him to a contract similar to the one they gave Greg Hardy.

Hardy's contract:
750K base salary (basically the veteran's minimum)
1.3M in workout bonuses
770K per game active

If Hardy was not active for any reason, he didn't get paid for that game.
