Well that is that, time to shelve this discussion until next year.

Per CBA, any player franchised this year a second tag will be 120% of this year's salary...……….which comes to almost $38 million for Dak.

This is set per the CBA regardless of what the salary cap does, so even if the cap goes down 20% next year it will not affect Dak's tag money.

The Cowboys organization will have some big decisions to make going forward.

The good news is that Dak better play his butt off this year as now every year is a contract year...if he flops, he’s going to end up a backup somewhere on a backup QB salary...

Next year you mean.. But he bet on himself. Can't fault him for that. He was offered more than hes worth and didnt sign so...

No guarantee Dak gets tagged in 2021.

But yeah, that's the point. Dak is getting a way better deal and he put up 3 points against NE in a regular season game, while Tannehill got deep in the playoffs.
You mean Henry right? Because Dak has won a playoff game and people here said he didn’t it was Zeke. So I’m just clarifying

The problem is that with everything going on in the world it is looking more and more like we wont have a full season. The cap will be hit and a lot of teams will be struggling. So I have to ask it Dak just plays mediocre who do you think will chase him that needs a QB and has the space?

The salary cap has everything to do with it. What are you talking about it ?
That’s all I’ve been hearing Since the salary cap was in place. It’s never been an issue for this franchise. We never were not able to sign somebody we wanted to. It’s just a silly excuse that people like to use

I wish more people understood this game. The salary cap can always be manipulated it’s just a sad excuse people like to use

What did he want? Did he say?

If they gave him four years, would he accept $144 million, all guaranteed?

Yes the cap can be manipulated. We have done it for years. Or you can be like the patriots who’s Qb played for less so they could always sign a huge player or two extra with their manipulated cap.

Do you think that if Jerry had no limit on the amount of money he could spend on players, he would have let Byron Jones walk this offseason?

That’s not how the patriots did it. They released players constantly when contracts came up they were just great at drafting . Brady never played for less he just constantly restructured. It’s Paying with inflated dollars down the road You have to understand financing before you can talk about salary cap

It appears the only issue the 2 sides could never overcome was the length of contract - 4 years vs 5 years. Will either side be willing to budge next year?

There are only 2 Qb in the league that wouldn't sign that contract........ Dak & Mahomes.
And Russell Wilson. And Aaron Rodgers wouldn't sign that today given how prices have inflated since he last signed. And we'll see about Deshaun Watson. Only reason Brady and Brees would is because they are at the tail end of their career and are both floating in money. Matt Ryan probably would today because at 34 years old that's about as good as it could get, but if he were 26, like Dak, and playing like he was at age 26, he might not.

Stafford and Garappolo signed big contracts also when they were in this position.

Only reason garapolo don’t ring is because the HC let him throw the ball around in the second half. Lol.
