Gotcha. So they see enough in him to give him 31 million dollars rather than getting a jump on the fresh start. Makes complete sense. I know when I’m ready to move on from something I invest in it heavily first.

Yeah exactly

Now you're reading between the lines.

Welcome my brother.

I see the word "greedy" misapplied to Prescott and other players when they're looking at an entirely different view of value and worth than we are. Who are we to decide what any player is worth?

There is a lot more than making a living tied up with these negotiations and a player's ego is just one of them but that ego is also the driving force in his career as a player.

Why should a player not feel he is worth what another is getting when he feels he's just as valuable to his team? That not only works across the league positions wise but within teams across all positions. If your team decides a DE is worth 21M, a RB 15M and a WR 20M, what is a QB worth? Laveon Bell made a stand in PIT over just that and his case was solid, he was the large % of their offense, why shouldn't he be paid that way? Isn't that what CAR did with McCaffrey, paid him based on his contribution to the team?

You people that preoccupy yourselves with the money part of this, the cap and negotiations are a bunch of boring nerds. What the hell does any of that have to do with the game? I feel like half this forum is a bunch of pastyassed accountants. Of course, you are in the other half.
Great post. I have no idea why some seem to get upset at what a player wants to make. Ot, suggest he's "not worth" a certain amount.

I really don't think people understand the salary cap. Dallas' player expenses are fixed by the league collective bargaining agreement. They can spend the same amount as every other team with very little variation. You can give out more cash this year by giving out signing bonuses and such but then you have to be below the cap in future years to make it up.

Just to be super clear: Jerry's expenses over the long term don't change regardless of what he pays Dak. Every penny that Dak gets comes out of some other player's pocket in the long term.

On Jerry's side, this isn't about being cheap. This is about winning. Feel free to criticize him if you think that paying Dak 40m a year or something gives the team a better chance to win but don't call him cheap. It just makes you look uneducated.

It means I won't have to deal with him for years to come. Years of average crap play.

He has 1 year.

Deal with it and keep up.

You know buddy, at some point it’s good to just say we agree to disagree. Your opinions have been made clear, but I’ll never understand why any of us have to feel like we must” win” in an opinion forum.

It’s inherently weird to me to have anyone be “clearly right” or “clearly wrong” when all we’re doing is throwing down opinions about the same team we all love. It’s not like we’re arguing with eagles fans here.

Hey I hear you.

Many fans here gloated and prematurely cheered that Dak would sign in July, and that those against him should leave, as well as we don't know football. Just proving a point it's not wise to pound your chest early.

Those same people are miserable right now. They shouldn't be, they were Happy and dancing for months.

Fans can blame themselves if they believe players salaries are too high. The revenue we create is the culprit. And they often lose face it’s an entertainment business. Not just a game.

Interestingly why some fans appear to take issue with Athletes salaries unlike those in other entertainment industries with other professions like the Arts and Acting . But sports is something they actually have played or participated at some level.

Fans don’t get as upset with a musician making 100 million on a tour or a lead actor 30 or 40 million on a film.

There’s other issues which have been written about as well like with the discrimination of gender in sports so it’s likely there is some other undertones related to resentment from fans in players salaries as well since the majority of athletes in our major sports are the segment most commonly being discriminated against in society.
