RELEASED Gerald McCoy released w/injury waiver

McCoy got the golden parachute like the CEO who's company is being taken over, while the rest of his employees have to wonder if they will have a job after the buyout goes thru.

He's going to revert back to IR when he passes through waivers. The team is still going to rehab him.

Good business juju. Don't just turn a guy out onto the street when he needs rehab, when the team has a rehab factory, and it doesn't count toward the cap.

$3M for about 3 weeks of work, most people on this board won’t earn $3M in their lifetimes. McCoy has had plenty of big paydays, he rehabs strongly and he’ll be back next year. Now he can totally avoid the Covid that everyone is so concerned about.

Here's an example of waiving a player injured from last year.

Then they released him from IR again this year when he could pass a physical.

That was non vest vet so thats the rule for them. For a vested vet, they can go straight to IR. Im not saying you are wrong but why would they waive/injured him when they could have just placed him on IR? They contract reads that if he gets hurt with a quad injury the 2.5m base is voided anyways.

lets not pretend this is the first time we’ve ever seen this happen tho. Players get injured they get cut, their production falls off they get cut, and nobody has a problem with that. The second a player outperforms his contract and wants an increase its “he’s selfish, not loyal etc etc” this just shows this game is a business plain and simple
Maybe that's because it's a team game. We root for the Cowboys first, and the players second, as a rule.

You're telling that to a dude with Dez in a Saints jersey as his avatar..

Someone came in here yelling about people *****ing and moaning, turns out he was the only one *****ing and moaning smh

Reading up on it, this wasnt a waived injured type of release. It was a release for a injury waiver in the contract. Once he got hurt the whole contract voided. Vested vets typically arent waived injured because they can go straight to IR. If they are, they cant be without compensation. But McCoy had the clause that voided his contract for injury so there will be no settlement needed. And again, I think this was a straight out release that just read like a waived injured release because of the injury waiver he had in the contract. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, not sure if it's the contract or that he's a vested vet but it doesn't sound like he will revert to IR. Just strange I would think the nflpa would make sure teams rehab the injured player.

Yeah, that was my first thought. But he knew this signing the contract so he took that chance. Still sucks for him

Holy crap that's harsh.

What's up with the Joneses being cutthroat suddenly?

Guess you either have the correct photos or you dont.
stephen jones is pretty ruthless really jerry has a lot less to say about the operations now
