No, you've got the wrong take. McCoy made 3 mil yesterday.
Some math to help you out.

Gerald McCoy signed a three year contract with the Dallas Cowboys on March 18, 2020. Contract base value is $18.3 million with $7 million fully guaranteed at signing. $3.5 million of McCoy's 2021 salary is guaranteed for injury at signing.

He made $3M (signing bonus) on March 18th not "yesterday"

He lost $4M an additional "guaranteed" money ($2.5M 2020 base salary and $1.5M of his 2021 base was guaranteed) when he blew out his quad while performing his work duties yesterday.

Hope that helps little buddy.

By the way, a smart move by the Cowboys to include this specific injury clause.

One of my players had a similar deal with the Titans regarding his ACL and of course, he injured his ACL the first week of camp. It might seem cruel but it's basically the NFL doing two things: giving someone a chance with a legitimate injury concern AND protecting themselves from liability.

It doesn't help at all. McC is a very rich man, and he's not even in bad spirits about this. Seems like you have more problems w/ it than he does, boy.

So McCoy's injury quad clause is telling me McCoy was actually damaged goods when he got here -before camp?
...so that was bound to happen ?

Both parties took a chance, there was a red flag and the Cowboys covered their arse. If the Cowboys didn’t and news got out that they knew about this existing condition, all hell would break loose. “Another dumb move” “Incompetent FO. Not as cut throat as everyone makes it out to be but it was a good job by the FO. A plus in book.
Yeah this isn't cutthroat at all. Those same people crying about cowboys screwing him would be calling them incompetent if they had to continue paying him this year and further for a player that can't walk (*cough cough Crawford)

It's a team game with a cap so nothing bad about cutting players (welcome to business, if you can't perform at your job or someone younger can do it better for cheaper then in the real world you have a target on your back).

Injured players eating up the cap if anything hurts other players chances of winning (funny how that narrative never gets thrown around, it's always the other narrative of "owners screwing players and not honoring contracts").

Yup.

As Dak said(and I hope he meant), "It's a business".

This is why players are selfish. If owners have no loyalty, then why should players have loyalty? And if it's just business, which I don't doubt it is, then it should be just business when Players hold out etc...

yeah, someone hands me three million to go home and rest an injury. What a monster!

That was a smart move if you read past the Headline. Both Parties knew there was something up with the Quad hence the Clause in the Contract.

Cowboys save Cap Space and dont have a player bound to them that likely never recovers from this or will be a total shelf when coming back.

Btw they can still resign him next Summer if he somehow has a miracle rehab.

Jerry absolutely holds grudges.

SEE: Jimmy Johnson

In the first press conference at camp, he was asked specifically about McCoy calling him out and he didn’t seem happy. it’s at 19:22:

He really didn’t like people calling him out by name and trying to pressure him into doing something. So yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s holding a grudge. Let’s see if McCoy ever gets another workout post injury.

It’s so funny to me how anyone can ever side with owners. I’d love to figure out the psychology behind it.

It’s also the reason we’re all in the position we find ourselves in now. King-worship and wannabeism

Gerald McCoy is saying he's willing to work with the Cowboys players this season.

That's likely the only help we'll be able to get from him. It's better than nothing!

Since he's up for #3 mil, they might want to take it. He's looking for a coaching job.

why did Dallas sign a player with a jacked up knee?

If I'm understanding the contract correctly, the other $3.25M was in roster bonuses. So since he wouldn't have been on the roster as he would assuredly be on IR, McCoy actually didn't lose any more for THIS season.

Anyone know where I'm wrong?
