Are the Cowboys okay on the O-line?

I think they are stacked in the interior OL. Lots of talent there. Tackle not so much. The drop off is huge after Smith and Collins.

Honestly...……...Its a big issue. If Smith gets hurt we are in big big trouble. Good news is we have a coaching staff that can adjust the game plan and scheme to get the ball out quicker and help out.

According to pretty much every analyst and article it will still be top 5 but if it’s not 2016 some fans here consider it trash. Obviously we won’t know until the season starts but we can say that about literally every positional group that a lot of people have already declares All Pros.

I mean will Aldon Smith play like he did in the 2nd half of the season last year? Will Dware not show up again? Will LVE be like his rookie year or last year even before he was injured? Did Jaylon improve? Will Ceedee live up to the hype even though he hasn’t even played a game in the NFL? Will Cooper start showing up in road games? Will Diggs be able to replace Byron? Will Zeke regress even further or god forbid our O line isn’t top 5, will he be able to match his prior production?

I think the concerns are overdone and truly believe we will have a top 5 O line, top 10 at worse. I don’t know how we can win games unless we’re top 5 though

I wish I shared your optimism. I'm seeing disaster just waiting to happen to the offense because the O-line can't effectively do their job. It's going to be reminiscent of the Atlanta game in 2017. Aaron Donald is going to have a great day feasting on Dak meat.

That was due to one player and JG’s refusal to give him help, that’s NY’s problem now. We still have average to very above average across our O line. You know I’m not optimistic about most things but the O line and the WR’s are about the only thing I feel confident about.

But....every year there are surprises, like all the examples I gave above, so I’m not saying I would risk my mortgage on it. Cautiously optimistic would be how I feel.

I think the oline will be fine, McCarthy is not going to push Smith and Collins, they are vet players who are getting in the work they need to do to get themselves ready for the season. Longer term, I do think Smith career is close to being done and Cowboys will need to address what they will do at OT in the near future. Heading into this season with Smith, Williams, Looney, Martin and Collins I feel pretty good about it

So sad criticizing the great Gil Brandt and his wisdom, even at his old age. Mr. Brandt has knowledge you could only dream of. You should listen to him more often. He gets IT. You don't.

Meant Griffin and another great point on Smith. Reading the posts here you would think they’re already both a lock for the HOF for what they will do this season along with Lamb and Poe.

It seems the Cowboys are so riddled with injury on the O-line that they may not be able to execute their deeper routes that require plays to develop downfield. Short passes and handing the ball off is all I see them being able to do successfully. Am I seeing this wrong? Please discuss.

I hope they're ok. Offensive line has become bigger, stronger, and more athletic over the decades. Back in the 60s and 70's a QB had about 1.5 seconds to throw the ball. Once he got to the end of his drop that ball better be out or it's your ***. Now QBs get a little more time. Our O-Line should be good enough for a few seconds. You really can't expect more.

Anyone here remember the 1975 game against the Vikings in the playoffs? Roger had 0 time to throw the ball but still managed to pull it off.
