Am I the only one who thinks Dalton gets at least one start this year?

Oh God, you mentioned Andy Dalton as a possible starter. It doesn't matter that you qualified with possible scenarios and are obviously just giving your opinion. Those who are in love with Dak and can not allow anyone to suggest that he isn't a HOF-caliber QB will soon come to this thread to call you names. You've done it now. It's time for you to just start a new account and watch this thread balloon to 500 pages of dumpster fire.

I think some folks here haven't really seen Andy Dalton play in years. They hear "Bengals" and just decide his supporting cast held him back. He actually had a good team around him for years, made the playoffs five times, and he stunk in every playoff game.

The NFL is a QB-driven league. A veteran like Dalton gets dumped and has to settle for a back up gig for a reason. Just because you've never seen him fail with a star on his helmet does not mean that he will succeed.
Go back and look at who he lost to and then remind yourself that Dalton was riding with Marvin Lewis. The black Jason Garrett.

In addition to this every year his wr corps has been decimated with injuries seems like every year a new Wr is leading the team and producing stats only to get hurt. Or the next talented RN is being carted off the field

Come on stop with the old nonsensical tropes that have no bearing on if Dalton will be susccessful, if given a chance to QB this team of weapons.

Knock it off

Andy is a talented and capable veteran QB who can and will flourish with the 2020 Cowboys

Am I the only one who thinks he gets at least one start this year? You know the media is waiting to jump on this one as soon as dak begins to underperform... and I hate to say it but I think this current team could play better with a healthy Andy dalton... maybe I’m just crazy but I think dak is what is holding this offense back at times. Do I think dalton is the answer no... but I think his play style might fit this offense better.

Good to be back boys! It’s been a while!
Um....the same Andy from Cincy......lol

It depends on how many games we're talking. A couple games I think we'd be fine. So if if were more than yeah, Dalton's not the answer.
Well since you say so....of course.

Saying so without watching one actual real snap with the Cowboys. Hmmm...well...alrighty then.

Except it's Andy from Dallas now.

Just to be clear....I still have not nor ever have called for Dak's head. I'd like to see him (andy) in some real game snaps....only not at the expense of Dak's injury or failure. If that is what happens...well...not much to do about it...except try your best to cheer on Andy.

A little bit early to tell. He missed a really nice would-be TD to Gallup in one of the very clips we've seen. Gallup made a great play to reach back for it...and our DB looked pretty silly defending it. Down at the 2 yard instead of an easy TD...underthorwn!

That's the kind of thing that blows a game. a FG or nothing at all sometimes.

I wanna see some real football before I make any judgings.

now that i think of it...Dak's issues in missing is throwing behind receiver ..thinking mainly cross middle routes...but remember 2016 first game against G-men...easy short pass to Beasley for TD he overthrew?..and we lost by 1....

Yes sir...that's it.

I do not expect him to be perfect. But there are times you just HAVE to burn them.
The example I gave (Gallup) was in a practice without any real pressure. Still missed the easy walk in TD. It's a bit of concern for me. About the only one I have with Dak. Oh...and adding in run more like the Cowboys/Seahawk playoff replay over the weekend. The flip almost td's....except no flipping. :p

Dak is starting, Dalton was brought here for 1 reason and that is to backup. Not hard to understand. Dallas is paying Dak 31 mill and he will have this season to prove he should be signed to longer term deal or not. Dalton is here on a 1 year deal.

True but I really dont see any dominate defenses that could cause him not to score a Td.

The ridiculous amount of Offensive talent combined with the New Environment created . . . I dont see how he could go the whole season and not score at least 1 Td in every game

If He were to struggle, it will be because of the Health & Perfirmance of the Offensive Line.

And as much depth we have on the inside in youthful potential. The depth at Tackle is already causing a concern and its week 1.

Major head slap:facepalm:

The only achiles heal. But enough of a peoblem based on Dak's past experinece of falling off a cliff if the tackle position is anything less then Pro Bowl Level.

Its gonna be interesting to see how this plays out. If by chance Dak struggles in any way what so ever, because he cant handle the pressure coming from the right side. If the coaches arent able to compensate for Dak. If this continues for 2-3 games until Collins return

I believe Dak would be riding the pine if the Cowboys struggle and I believe there would be less supporters and more believers in McCarthy and the Dak Era shall come to a close.

But thats a big if. . . But a very real possibility.

Could you imagine the chaos after Steven A. Makes his opinion felt

A carrot top, the Red Rifle. (Some say its one step up from being Albino). . .

:starspin:
You cant make this up . . .

NFL--- i think Dak is better when things break down compared to his QB abilities from 2017...and i have to think new staff will be prepared and make in game adjustments if there is a melt down like the one we saw in Atlanta...i hope so anyway

It's an opinion. I'm not betting money, but Dalton isn't going to magically become a greater QB than what has been displayed the last 9 seasons. Average starting QB, fantastic QB to have for a back up. He's not starting over Prescott.

plus remember 2018 when Gallup was missed for easy TD's on a bunch of them...and Rico missed on easy TD game 2 against G-men 2018...i am hoping Dak has improved on those?

Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet, especially since he's now banking $31M ........just wait until Dak loses his first game or throw the first interception.
Wins/Loses are a team stat. The great Tony Romo couldn't replace him when Prescott wasn't as perfect as some expect.

you answered my question. I just wanted to see if you were consistent with your thoughts on your favorite player (OSU alum) as you were on Dak. I don't hear it as much from you on any other other player as I do on Dak. That being said he is the most polarizing player on our team so Im not surprised as he gets talked about the most, as was the last QB so not much has changed in 10 years.

I think your oversensitive no need to be taken aback. I wasn't trying to dig stuff up. I'm just a knucklehead fan on a message board like the rest of us

and i wasn't serious about Pollard i in noway think he should start. more carries yes but we got our starter even if i don't like him much.

Not many other player come up in this regard. As matter of fact...I was one who brought up OTHER players during a Dak talk. I would have to look it up, but he said something like "Dak deserves a shot with new coaches". I said other players too? He accused me of changing the subject...and I had to "force" him to answer...or shame him or maybe he just answered to shut me up. :p

I was actually doing the very same thing you did here...minus the Ohio State dig...and I gave you a straight honest answer.

I have made it clear...."free pass" for everyone...and trust MM to put the best players on the field to win ball games. I'm not really even judging anyone except a couple comments on the very small sample of snaps I have seen.

For now!

I don’t think Dalton starts unless Dak is hurt.

1. Dak won’t play poorly enough to get benched.

2. Dalton is not that good. Dak is a better QB than Dalton. The ONLY thing Dalton wins on, is price. The only sense in playing a guy like Dalton over Dak, would be to save cap space.

However, Dak is already on a guaranteed deal for this year. So they can’t cut or bench him or move on from him until after the season is over. And since he is in fact better than Dalton. There is no reason to not play him this season, unless he is hurt.
