I wouldn’t be surprised. Our secondary is depleted. Our DL hasn’t played together yet. Our OL is depleted. And we’re still learning the new scheme. The Rams made the Super Bowl two years ago and have a lot more continuity on both sides of the football than we do.

Sure, plus the lack of preseason is going to give us a poorly executed game. But the Rams have had a lot of turnover also, they cut Gurley while we added Lamb.

I totally agree! Dak is under Jerry's microscope this season and every performance will be looked at very closely.
Jerry wasn't fooled by Daks 5k yards passing because he realized he wasn't beating any decent teams.

Because Zeke was a no show vs the good teams. How'd Aikman do without Emmitt? Dak like Aikman needs the run game to set up the passing game. And yes coaching and playcalling matters. Give Dak Norv Turner as offensive coordinator instead of Kellen Moore.

Be upset, but not judge the entire season on the first game. In 1993 the Cowboys lost their opener to the Commanders 35-16, and went on to win the Super Bowl that season (the Commanders ended the season 4-12). Like all losses, especially lopsided ones, I didn’t like the outcome or how they played, but it proved the point that you have to wait and judge on the season, not one game.

Zeke averaged 5.9 vs the Bills and 5.2 vs. the Packers last year.

Might want to check facts before you say stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On offense the Rams are missing from the team that got to the SB their All Pro RB, a 1200+ yard receiver, and their starting LG and C.

On defense they don’t have a starting DT, 2 Starting LBs, and 3 starting DBs from that season.

If we play well I believe that speaks really well for McCarthy. If we don't, I won't be particularly surprised. The first game or two what with all the issues this year like new HC, no preseason games and all the problems with the Covid mess plus numerous new players, well put it this way: If we don't have any problems, McCarthy will have worked a miracle.
I'm hoping for the best, but I won't be ready to give up on the Boys if they have a rough game or two out of the starting gate.

I believe we are going to be, on average, a .500 team this year. Maybe a game one way or the other. The telling season will be next season and the season after that IMO. 21/22 and 22/23 are the money ball years IMO. If we don't win one in those two years, I think you see this team torn apart and rebuilt.

because most of those games Zeke was destroying teams in the first half and the play calling went south all passing...zeke led the league in first half yards , hardly got carry's in the second half in many games...keep the facts straight..

coaching works both ways KM was horrible about balancing the run game with the pass and because pass happy like the old OC Garett days..

I thought I’d put this out there to use as an archive of sorts when people start calling for everyone to be fired or cut/traded Sunday night.

IF the game doesn’t go our way and it looks like a repeat of Chiefs/Texans will you say McCarthy was a drastic mistake or they should let Dalton start?

I think this is an outside possibility based off two factors:

1) Offense could struggle without Collins/Frederick and who knows how good Cooper’s health actually is.

2) Defense WILL have confusion against some of McVays schemes and doing more elaborate blitzes that leave vulnerable spots in the secondary. It’s going to take half the year to get it shored up since the team was so basic for last 7 years defensively since Rob Ryan left.

I’m on record that no matter what happens this year McCarthy and staff should not be held accountable for on field performance as long as team is improving throughout the year. This is not Madden and unless the Eagles health is totally diminished it’s going to be very hard to take the East from them this year.

You can’t plug in 4 new starters on offense, 5 on defense and new schemes and expect it to be a finished unit day 1. Goff, Ryan and Wilson are not the 3 QBs you’d want to see out of the gate

As long as they beat teams like Giants and the Football Team soundly who are in the same position, and show the ability to make adjustments throughout the year as they learn what doesn’t work, it’ll be fine for me.

That said I expect a close loss on Sunday but wouldn’t be shocked by anything either direction. Unless the defense pitches a shutout and has 3 picks.

Lol. I would think 2 things - 1) It takes a while to shake off the Garrett stank 2) Mike Nolan sucks

I would be a miserable SOB on the game thread.

If they lose badly...I shall go in the pasture behind my house and execute a wild hog.
