That's what I was about to say. You can't afford to cut Jaylon today, but you can't afford NOT to bench him and play Joe Thomas. Forget appearances and focus on production.

Designate Smith as one of your post June 1st cuts when you can next year. Admit the contract was a huge mistake.

I am not sure if it's already been posted, but designating Smith a June 1st cut would give 7.2 million in cap space. To me, it's an easy decision.

You say he bad and coaches chose him as an alternate for the probowl just a season ago. I just call it like I see it. Kris sucked and Nolan definitely sucks...which is my opinion. The opinion of NFL coaches is that Jaylon in recent seasons was among the best at his position....this is either true or its not.

Do you think any of those coaches are going to advocate Jaylon for the pro bowl this year? LOL

With the poor Dline play the last two seasons Jaylon has been completely exposed.

So since you are so dialed into all the coaches opinions and all, what do you think Nolan thinks of Jaylon Smith?

FYI……………...LVE sucks too.

bububububububububut……………….he made the pro blow as an alternate before so the coaches love him!!!!! :muttley::muttley:

Good. Jaylon is a sunk cost at this point. We can whine and complain about the deal he received but it is what it is and he is a total liability.

You're right, what's the point in cutting him for a saving of $400,000. So we can find a better replacement for a million

TBH, I don’t know what happened to him. The 2018 season he was looking like a perennial pro bowler, but now he reminds me of Bruce Carter SMH.

We have the worse defense in the NFL. No one on our defense is going to the probowl. My point is that there are players that should be flat out cut and there are players that have value and can be traded. Jaylon is one of those players.

Would be shocked if Jerry moved on from Jaylon this quick.

You mean people criticized poor ole Jerry for drafting Jaylon 34th overall.

He was so vindicated as a smart football guy that he gave Jaylon a five year, $63.75 million contract extension with $35.4 million in guarantees.

He showed you guys.

Jerry is so paranoid about his image and credibility, I'd almost bet that he'd make a sweetheart deal with Jaylon to get him to "retire" due to medical issues so Jerry can save face.

Jerry finally had a 2nd round gamble that seemingly paid-off. He was too quick to resign Jaylon thinking he struck gold but turned out he paid top dollar for pyrite.

I admittedly have no idea how to figure out dead money hits and cap savings but the guy needs to not play, one way or the other.

It's not a punishment thing....he just doesnt look like he has an idea of what to do out there.

It's a bit sad.

It would send a message to the team that they better start taking things seriously or they will be out of a job.

You're one silly motor scooter, but you sure is right. It would be an awesome move by the FO.

Not going to happen, cap hit would be $23 mil this year and even cutting him next year would be a $9 mil cap hit maybe in 2022.

So we send a message by cutting young players who have played well in the past and are still young, but our senile coaching staff gets a pass? Alright then.

I think LVE is an entirely different animal. I still have hope if we put a couple players around him he can show out once again. That said I hung on to hope with Jaylon for far too long.

Yah, I know your point, I just don't agree that he has much value. Not at his salary. I also think cutting a guy like that would send an incredible message to the team.

Personally, I just want him gone and I really don't care how they do it. We got a conditional 6th for Griffin without a big salary. What do you think they are going to get for Jaylon? A 7th?

LVE was so good that rookie year because he was a great tackler. He cant tackle anymore. And now he is damaged goods. I don't see us resigning him.

For the record, I wanted Myles Jack over Jaylon. Myles has been a stud for the Jags.

I honestly do not care what they get for Jaylon but I know we should be able to get something for him. Just 2 seasons ago it was said that we had the best duo at LB in the entire NFL and then Jaylon followed that up with a probowl season.

There will be DC's that will blame any poor play on coaching even this season. We have players that came from other teams that were pretty good just a year ago for example Griffen.....that looked like garbage for us but someone gave something for him. Price tag true was different but draft picks are valuable.
