Dak has nothing to do with Allen, he isn't on Allen's level.

He should get a contract similar to Baker, they're both just average.

Cleveland has been able to build a winner with Mayfields contract. Dallas had their window with Daks cheap contract and had no luck. You can't give Dak a market contract and hope to compete. We need someone on a rookie deal.

I mean the Browns have only gotten to the divisional round. Dak has done that twice. Let's see how things end up before we crown them.

ok this has to stop!

YOU DO NOT KNOW MORE THEN JERRY AND HIS TEAM OF LAWYERS, CPAS, CAPOLOGISTS AND HUGE STAFF HE EMPLOYEES AS REAL ACTUAL FO MEMBER OF PRO SPRTS TEAM.

THEY KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING PLUS 10TIMES MORE..

THERE ARE MORE REASONS THEN JUST THE CAP TO GETTING A DEAL DONE AND BOTH PARTIES HAVE TO PLAY,. DAKS BEEN PLAYING HARD BALL AND IM COMFORTABLE TO WHATEVER REASONS THE JONSES HAVE TO NOT YET GETTING THAT DEAL DONE..

THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE FAR MORE AWARE AND ACTUALLY ITS THEIR MONEY NOT YOURS..ITS THEIR TEAM, NOT YOURS AND FRANKLY THE BUSINESS SIDE OF FOOTBALL IS USELSS FOR FANS TO WHINE ABOUT..

they will handle it as they see fit..:huh:o_O:rolleyes:
It stops when you use that ignore button.
My job/role/concern here isn't to care about your comfort level.

Stephen has botched this point blank and period for the world to see.
Dak is roster member number 1.
He's the guy you set the franchise upon and you wasted money and time last year negotiating for a 5th year....
Now he's going to cost more and you still likely get only 4 years of control for your efforts.

Every new franchise QB deal that gets signed will cost you more money. And there are 2-3 per year occurring.

I do think Jerry has been around football his entire life and he's been surrounded by many of the leading football minds in this game for a long, long time.
But Stephen is just cheap. He hates paying large contracts. He fights them tooth and nail often to the point he loses leverage and pays more.
That critique is not unique except when it comes to QB.
No other team does this at QB.
The ONLY example that has is WFT. And they are 4-5 years later still looking for a QB.

CLE had a dozen top 5 draft picks in a row and a gazillion dollars in cap space.
Eventually that won out and they finally put together a winning squad.
It doesn't mean they can even return to the playoffs next year without better QB play.
They have the best OL Coach and run game going. But keeping all the OL and Chubb healthy is real challenge.

The Browns took down a 12-4 divisional champ on their home field as a wild card. What game as Dak won where Dallas was an underdog? Mayfield just bested anything Dak has ever done.

Pittsburgh Rookie Season 2016? Or at Greenbay? Or do you mean *playoff game* where Dallas was underdog?

Josh Allen and even Baker Mayfield are expected to command north of 38~40 million per year.

These are quarterbacks who both have career passer ratings over 10 ENTIRE points less than Dak (although Josh Allen has been improving)

That laughable 40 million per year price tag is going to be considered a steal in just 1 to 2 off seasons
The problem has always been who actually handles the cap. His name is Stephen Jones. There are several examples of players we waited to sign until after a lesser player reset the market.

If we get another cheap QB (who hopefully doesn't suck) will the team continue to shop in the garbage can for free agents or will the team finally try to make a move to take advantage of said cheap QB?

Playoff game. Funny you have to harken back 5 years to find an upset Dak orchestrated.

In any case, Mayfield just accomplished more than Dak ever has.
How so? Dak out-performed Mayfield in the playoffs... also Mayfield has only has 1 playoff win at the moment, and his defense had to play out of their minds to do it

Yall Dak haters just be saying anything lol...

ROFL are you this goofy for real or just pretending this morning?

CLE was up 28-0 when Baker had thrown for 80- yards.
Baker was perfectly fine but wasn't in the top 5 reasons CLE won that game.
He passed for 263 yards but 40 of that was a screen to a RB.

Mayfield is leading an ascending team. Dak is not. Its really that simple. You cannot build a team that can compete around Dak's expected 40M salary. Last I checked, the goal in the NFL is a super bowl not to make sure your pet cat gets paid. Aside from some big numbers posted with the help of the best supporting cast in the NFL and mostly with the team in a hole, Dak hasn't done much. You certainly can't point to any playoff success. He's got one home wildcard win....in 5 years.

Well, my hope is that we can get off this WR kick and go get some defense. I think MM and certain Quinn know what they need.

Once Dalton got acclimated , he actually looked pretty good. Consider he had no off season to prepare with these players and was working behind a second team OL most of the year.

While Dalton definitely solidified a backup role here I’d like to have seen how he’d do against playoff caliber teams.
