I’d trade for Stafford in a heart beat

Although I know this would never happen, I wouldn't mind having Stafford as a number 2 QB if Dalton doesn't come back.

But I wouldn't pay Dak… We have way too many other needs that need to be addressed. Our defense overall was horrid. IMHO I think we need 1 or 2 people and our offense is set.
That defensive line could not stop crap. Our secondary got sliced and diced because of it... Yes part of it was scheme but if we're honest with ourselves, we'd be saying our defensive line just isn't any good. We can use that money to get players that can be a brick wall on defense. If we didn't have all these issues then yes, I would say pay Dak. Am I saying "Is our defense issues Dak's problem?" No. And it's not. But I think if we fix the problems this offseason, then look for a Dak-esque next offseason. Or franchise tag him and pay out the nose next offseason. I'd be ok with either but get our issues fixed first.

This fanbase is so stupid. There is not one single metric Stafford is better than Dak at. Well, except constantly underperforming and never being blamed. He doesn't have a winning bone in his body. Dak completes passes at a higher rate, throws TDs at a higher rate, throws picks at a lower rate, a better runner and gains more yards per pass attempt. Not to mention he is much older.

Dude is a perennial loser but for some reason is a lovable loser. He has never once ever won his division in his decade plus career. A career where he played Calvin Johnson. Lmao. Junk QB.

He’s 33 but still more talented than dak. He has a top 4 arm. He’s locked up for two years. He’d make less than dak will make in one year. He’d fully utilize cooper and lamb. I hope Jerry does it. He’d upgrade and save money.
He's side arm Sammy. The number of crucial bone headed interceptions this guy has thrown over the years is not taken into account when evaluated. He's done.

There's a reason why Detroit agrees to part with him.

Let Dak walk...too pricey. Re-sign Dalton for about 7 million and use the other 30 million, yes 30 million to get a quality safety, CB, DT, RG. Cowboys would get well real quick! Draft Zach Wilson for your future.

I would take it with a grain of salt, (may have just been click bait) but I saw somewhere that the Cowboys were interested in trading for stafford.

Why would you think he'd be released? I don't see any way that happens. They'll find a trade partner.

Yeah. Cowboys reportedly interested. I’ll believe that when I see it.

Glad you don’t own the team! You would be trading for a QB who’s going to be released, has a 70-90-1 QB record and has only 3 playoff appearances in 12 seasons with an 0-3 playoff record. You sound like a casual, armchair, beer guzzling fan.

LOL.

so with 30M you want to get a Saftey, CB, DT, RG and DT.....LOL, didn't we do that this past year, signing 4 defensive players that didn't make it to mid season....half you all complain about bargain basement shopping, the other half thinks the good players will just sign in Dallas, because well we are the cowboys...too funny

and when was the last time a team signed bunch of FAs and succeeded defensively? when was the last time a team built through FA?

and then, then you want to keep Dalton...the guys who couldn't beat or even compete or keep the team close while playing against other teams starting QBs and was only able to beat the other teams that had their back up QBs, with the help of 9 turnovers...I guess all those stars you are planning to sign with 30M is going to make this an all time best defense to over come Dalton's incompetence.....LOL

gawd oh mighty

Not an unreasonable thought to consider.

But I also don't think it would have been unreasonable for the Cowboys to wonder if Brady were on a downhill slide and the they would be exchanging a guy who can play both now and in the future for a last hope on a dying career. As we know now, that wouldn't have been the case, but at the time Brady was headed toward 43 years old, nobody knew if he would be the same away from Belichick, and Brady was coming off his worst statistical season in many years. I think a lot of people were worried about that. And, of course, there wouldn't be any guarantee of just being able to grab a high level QB after Brady's 2 years was up.

There really is no one school of thought, and there are a lot of things to consider when moving on from a QB the team feels good about. I think the difference is that if a person doesn't share the the same feeling the Cowboys do about Dak, then it really isn't possible for them and the team to share the same thoughts on the matter. And, of course, we don't even know if Brady would have been interested.
what gives everyone the idea that Brady was going to come to dallas. Brady is 43, has had multiple large contracts, his wife is loaded, with him is not about money, its about rings. Tampa was in a much better situation to make a championship run than dallas ever was. don't forget Brady played against Dallas and knew first hand what they are......Tampa went 7-9, with a QB that threw 30 interceptions. lost a few games because of those interceptions and a better head coaching situation, not a first year coach, in a "no training camp" summer trying to install a new system......Brady wasn't going to come to dallas, so lets not fool ourselves. we are not the ultimate destination for anyone any more, except older, over the hill players looking for that last few million in a contract and ride to sunset.

Lets see, Stafford as a rookie threw 20 picks, Prescott set an NFL record with 4 picks. Stafford's rookie year the lions were 2-14, Prescott was 13-3. Stafford has 5 seasons with more picks that Prescott's worse season of 2017 with 13 picks. Stafford never led the league with the highest completion percentage for passes of 20+ and 40+ yards, Prescott led the NFL for almost the entire 2019 season until week 14. Stafford led the lions to zero divisional championships and lost all 3 playoff games he was in.

So tell me again how Stafford has a better arm than Prescott and is a better QB than Prescott.

Why would you want a QB who has a W-L record of 74-90-1 in the regular season and 0-3 in the playoffs? I thought the objective was to win games.
