I’d trade for Stafford in a heart beat

He’d upgrade and save money.

Upgrade? Lol Stafford’s winning percentage is 20 games below 500 and Dak’s is 15 games above 500. Stafford has never won a playoff game in 12 seasons and Dak has a playoff win in his first 5 seasons against Russell Wilson. Explain how Stafford would be an upgrade?

Don't you know that when the Cowboys lose it's all on Dak, but when the Lions lose it's because the team didn't get it done in spite of having an outstanding QB?

That’s the logic of the idiots on this board.

I just want the more cap friendly player between the 2.

Both aren’t capable of carrying.

This isn't unreasonable, although I would say the idea of QB's "carrying" teams is a little exaggerated. Obviously some can compensate for more than others can, but the supply of Mahomes/Rodgers/Brady type players is very low.

That said, while I don't disagree with the idea of wanting the more cap friendly player, there are more details that have to be factored in. For example …

1. What would the Cowboys have to trade to get Stafford?
2. After weighing cap differential and cost of the trade, is it worth it to go with the player that is almost 6 years older?
3. Are there other cap saving maneuvers the team can make?

For example last year I wanted to sign Brady to a 2 year deal because I felt he still had a couple seasons still in the tank.

Go all in for 2 years and draft a guy when he leaves.

Jerruh !!! Trade Dak for Stafford, trade our 1st round pick back to Detroit for Dak, sign both Dak and Stafford, then trade our 3rd round pick for a 1st round, move up and take Lawrence, get errr done Jerruh !!!!

Not an unreasonable thought to consider.

But I also don't think it would have been unreasonable for the Cowboys to wonder if Brady were on a downhill slide and the they would be exchanging a guy who can play both now and in the future for a last hope on a dying career. As we know now, that wouldn't have been the case, but at the time Brady was headed toward 43 years old, nobody knew if he would be the same away from Belichick, and Brady was coming off his worst statistical season in many years. I think a lot of people were worried about that. And, of course, there wouldn't be any guarantee of just being able to grab a high level QB after Brady's 2 years was up.

There really is no one school of thought, and there are a lot of things to consider when moving on from a QB the team feels good about. I think the difference is that if a person doesn't share the the same feeling the Cowboys do about Dak, then it really isn't possible for them and the team to share the same thoughts on the matter. And, of course, we don't even know if Brady would have been interested.

He’s 33 but still more talented than dak. He has a top 4 arm. He’s locked up for two years. He’d make less than dak will make in one year. He’d fully utilize cooper and lamb. I hope Jerry does it. He’d upgrade and save money.
Better fix the line to protect him.

I think he’s going to Washington. Too low a pick to draft a QB, would rather win now, makes sense to me.

Wouldn’t sleep on Indy or NO either, but Lions will sell to the highest bidder.

no thx.

this team is so far from a small upgrade at qb from being a super bowl contender lol.

That's really the key question. Though i have no interest in the deal. Dak is better than Stafford.
Detroit would take two 2nd round picks, but we only have 1 currently.
Both would have to be fairly high, about were our current slot is.
