Read my post again. Plan B is Cam Irving and /or a draft pick.

If the surgery works out, it's Tyron all day, every day. But you don't dump him, force $10M in dead money, have him play at a high level somewhere else and have a downgrade at LT. Dumb.
If we go into this season with only Erving as an option at LT after Smith goes down for the season in games 3-5 then we’re total jackasses.

Yeah I agree there.

Maybe the last of the top of the QB class is still there.

We need so much help a deal down may be what we need.

Thats one thing thats impossible to know until day of.
When you have a top 10 pick in a draft this void of top tier talent you use it - this not the year to trade down.

Thats fair as well, but if a deal down gets us a Collins and Moehrig as opposed to just a Surtain as am example....its something to consider.

Exactly, and I suspect teams would be willing to give up quite a bit for a LT like him. I think we can get at least a 2nd round pick for him. Maybe a 1 depending on how desperate a team is.
LMAO you think a team is going to give us a 2 or even a 1 for a guy who can’t stay healthy an entire season? Good God.

its pure delusional to say we are gonna ride Tyron yet another season..lol..if we do that Dak will get hurt again. TIME for an upgrade!!! STOP sticking with injured players too long. KNOW WHEN TO SAY WHEN! Why has this org. always been this dang stubborn? MOVE ON FROM TYRON.

It will almost certainly be a significant downgrade, but it might be a downgrade that stays healthy. That is basically the overall situation. Do you want a consistent downgrade or hope for the significant upgrade to stay healthy?

Maybe Lance, I don't see Wilson getting out of the top 5. Wilson, IMO, is going to end up being the 2nd ranked QB in this class and he could end up being he best one. But I agree, if were there, I'd take him quick. I'd force Dak's camp to make a quick decision on an offer and then, I'd either ink a reasonable deal with Dak or I'd move on. I'd be on the phone to all of these teams that think they are a QB away. I'd be in Detroit before the Sun went down trying to get a trade done.

yeah, I love Wilson..he would be my plan B if Dak isnt here.

One thing, a trade down is looking very tempting right now. I fell in love with KJ BRITT at the senior Bowl.He just exudes leadership and high FB IQ...and is mean. He will not hesitate to fill the gap. I wouldnt be mad at all if we overdrafted him honestly. He's a day 1 MLB starter. Reminds me of a much better Hitchens.

I think you could probably make the case that the surgery corrected everything and he's had a year off and is ready to play. But, he's going to have to pass physicals etc. I actually wouldn't mind keeping him for another year and drafting his replacement. Give that kid a year to get strong and learn the NFL position and then be ready to allow the kid to step in and start. That, to me, would be a wise way to approach this situation.

The interesting thing about Tyron -- and maybe the challenging thing -- is that he really isn't an old player, and certainly not by NFL OT standards. He will be 30 when next season begins.

If the surgery did correct the neck issue, he might reasonably be expected to be effective for 4-5 more years. But there are no guarantees, of course.

One would feel a bit nauseous if they released or traded him and he remained a top tackle for another 4-5 years. That is surely possible.

He was so young when he entered the league. And he has mainly been plagued by one issue. If that is corrected, the Cowboys could miss a lot of games from him because they became impatient.

loyalty in this day and age of the NFL will set a franchise back a decade. Can't do it. Its a business now. Run it as such.

3rd/4th rnd gets you guys like Knight and Steele. That what you want?
Both of those guys are undrafted free agents lol? And they did decent honestly. A 3rd/4th round pick in this years draft (deep with OT’s) could give you a future starter 100%.

Think guys like Orlando Brown, Joseph Notebloom, and Chukwura Okorafor.

I like Knight as the swing tackle.

I’m not ready to give up on Tyron just yet.

But...... if Tackle is the best player available. I mean you just can’t have too many good offensive lineman. So I would be fine with the cowboys pulling the trigger.

Personally I believe it's time to move on from Tyron, he's on the downside of his career & his injuries are only going to get worse. Draft a LT in the 1st, & cut Tyron so that his money can benefit us moving forward.

I'm a fan of Tyron but this is the business of football, it's best to get rid of a guy a year early than a year too late.

Your delusion is showing. The shouting is a tipoff for cognitive dissonance. You're just denying reality. They've stuck with Tyron before. If he seems healthy, they'll stick with him again.

More delusion. You can't just snap your fingers and upgrade on Tyron. If we move on, we're getting worse. Even Tyron didn't start to be Tyron until his third year in the league.

Tyron had nothing to do with Dak's injury, which happened downfield on the left side of the field.

They'll evaluate Tyron. If he seems healthy, they'll ride him. I can see them picking Sewell for value at 10, but no other OT.

Unless the neck surgery goes poorly, Tyron is back. Possible they could move on from Tyron if they get Sewell, as Williams and McGovern are both pretty solid linemen. But it's an extreme longshot to get Sewell, and then Fish is stating their plan to keep Tyron even if they get Sewell.

Sewell isn't the only LT in this draft that could end up being a Pro Bowl quality LT in the NFL. There are actually three LTs, IMO, that could be high quality starters for multiple years for some team.

He's on the older side Shake. To me, it's not about actual years here, it's about games played. Smith has been starting for us since he was like 20/21. Since 2011, Tyron has been starting for us. He's started 133 games for us in the NFL. Your body has just so many starts in it. I believe that and for everybody it's different but once you hit the limit, age doesn't matter. You are done IMO.

If you want to dump cap dollars the sure let him go but you are not getting anything worthwhile in a trade for an old guy who just missed a year for a back injury.

Tyron is the least of my worries. That’s just the worry warts on this site. The time off probably did his body huge favors.

From a protection standpoint as long as Lael or Tyron are back we should be fine. Run blocking is poor but we are not a running team anymore. I would be ok with Knight substituting in rather than spending picks one the OL
