So you're saying the Cowboys defense could have been powered by Giga Watts? ;)

Defensive Ends aren't borderline Pro Bowl players that get 1 sack every 3+ games and that's what Watt had last year and the year before he had 4. His days as a full time top tier DE are over.
.
.
He's a 3-4 defensive end. He's not supposed to pile up a bunch of sacks. He just did in his prime because he's one of the best ever.

Last year, Watt ranked 15th out of 119 qualified pass-rushers in pass rush win rate, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

This is probably going to shock you but DE whether they play in a 3-4 or 4-3 are expected to get sacks. Now if he was getting big sack numbers as a 3-4 DE earlier in his career but he's not now must mean that he's no longer as good as he once was which is EXACTLY what I said.

Pittsburghs 2021 cap is 30mil over if using 185mil benchmark.

Obviously they can make moves to get the team under it, but curious to see if JJ would take a huge discount to play there. I don't think they will offer a decent number.

Can't believe they released him and didn't trade him.

I guess trying to get some good will with future players after the poopshow we've seen recently.

Yeah, but giving a white player what he wants while playing hardball with others aint it.

If in regards to Watson, I think it's cause they value keeping Watson over Watt by a large amount in 2021.
And if they have to move on from Watson, the trade market for Watson is far more valuable than Watt considering his age, injury history etc, so they have to try to find the best deal.

It's one thing when a 32(non QB) year old guy wants off your team who is one year from FA. It's another when it's your 25 year old Franchise QB who you just re-signed.

Race has nothing to do with it.

I'm not saying they did it bc of race, I'm just saying that is how it may be seen.

But the fact is Watt has a year left on his deal with no guaranteed money. You should be able to work with him and find a trade partner. Outright releasing is a joke.

Dang shame he was in a bad organization and worse team. Wasted talent and career with Houston
Him and Witten should have a few beers together. They have much in common
