You need to do your research on Urban. He’s the real deal and sure thing for the roster. Everyone wanted a guy to help the run defense. He played with Baltimore, Tennessee, and Chicago, all good defenses where he was in the rotation. Not a lot of pass rush, but he was the third best run defender in the NFL. https://heavy.com/sports/dallas-cow...Tf1XkV0G3NPs85QnlA6-rM6lQ_bIFYIrXuEsyJezEywNs
Basham brings pressures, but hasn’t had many sacks. Let’s also keep in mind that he was an OLB on the Jets defense. Now he returns to DE with his hand in the dirt. Let’s hope he brings more to the rotation than our other backups. Anyone who laughs at the Urban signing is just football ignorant. He instantly improves our run defense at DT and DE.

I actually like this and the Urban signing, both good depth rotational players.

Basham looks like he has some pass rush moves (speed rusher) and plays the run pretty well.

2020 Stats:
9 Games Started
35 tackles
3.5 sacks
1 PDEF
3 FF

Now on to veteran FS.

He’s gotta be more impactful than Armstrong

Well I'm cool with this, I guess. I would've preferred skipping all the Jags to get one starter, but whatever

Right, they should have taken all that moolah they're dumping in the toilet with all these jag signings and used it on a stud DT who will make an impact and a difference on the defense. We gots ourselves a bunch of role players for "depth", that is IF they make it through camp and PS. Most will be cut and forgotten just like last year. "Depth" is code for camp body.

He had 13 QB hits so he’s pressuring the passer

My issue with "depth signings" is...how can. you sign depth signings when you need starters?

I was in favor of bringing in a couple of high-level FAs, so I am disappointed so far, but I agree that Urban and Basham are both solid rotation pieces. Nothing to trash.

Gregory was a rotational guy last year and is going to be the starter this year, you need to replace Gregory's role of last year, this guy looks like he can do that.

Cheaper replacement for A. Smith. Had similar numbers last year. The hope for us is that some of these savings and possibly some more restructures will allow us to get one of the top tier guys after the first wave passes them by.

Quite honestly that's a who's who of low level schlubs
What's even funnier is how after the draft and basically not making any significant signings in free agency the media will once again have Dallas as one of the top ten favorites to go to the Superbowl.

If the top tier guys get passed by....are they really top tier guys?

Just saying...

Not awful.

Started 9 games for the Jets in 2020. Career-high 36 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Finished 2nd on team with 3 FF and 13 QB hits.

(Trying to be positive LOL)
In comparison, Aldon had 48 tackles, 5 sacks, and 14 QB hits in more games (started all 16). He will replace A. Smith for less cost.

See to me I keep Gregory in the same role and sign a starter. Makes my defensive line that much better.

Aldon also took years off from football and wasn't in NFL shape. This guy was.....not really a fair comparison IMO.
