I understand where you are coming from: Jerry has invested a lot of money in the Linebacker position already, and feels he has 3 starters right now, so there is not enough money to sign another starting LBer.

Hopefully though, Jerry is smart enough to realize, yes he has 3 so called starting LBers( personally I don’t think Jaylon is a good starting LBer, and LVE is always injured), BUT the perfect starting middle linebacker, to lead this defense, is available at a reasonable cost. If Jerry really wants to win, he may need to over spend on the LBer position this year and restructure a couple contracts.

Again, if we can get KJ Wright for 5-10 million per season for 1-3 seasons IT IS A NO BRAINER!!!!

Jerry make a splash move, like the old days, when you went out and signed Deon and Haley!!

Just so you know where I’m coming from.

This isn’t even a bold move. Watching Jaylon and LVE the last 2 years and watching KJ Wright over his career. This is a smart football move!

Play the best 3 players the majority of the time and sub in the others. Neal also plays safety. Also, paying Jaylon was a mistake! If he only plays 25% of the snaps this team will be better for it.

I agree about Smith being a mistake. But they just further committed to that mistake.

Anybody being rational “cares”. To try to ignore the facts is practicing willful ignorance.
I mean there is no reason to put a high priced guy on the field if he cant do the job. You don't get good use of your money either way whether he sits or plays.

It's like having my 14k tractor sitting in the garage because it does not work. Yeah I have wasted the 14 k but I dont get anything done by not replacing it! It sucks but those are the facts!

I know where your coming from and I mostly agree with you. But the team has strengthened their commitment to Smith and I don’t see how they go back on that decision. Both on the field and financially.

Although I admit that neither played well last year, could it have been the Nolan's system which didn't play to their strengths? I am not writing off either pick because both have played extremely well in the not to distant past. I'd ask ya to have a little faith but I know that I would be wasting my time
Sorry, after 25 years of excuses whether it be coaches, injuries, officials, whatever it may be...you’re right, you’re wasting your time.

When I start seeing consistent positive results after more than a few wins, then come back to me with your faith and my reaction may be different.

How does that solve things THIS year?

If a guy is on his rookie deal and you have no intention of extending him, it’s not exactly cost prohibitive to limit his playing time. And you’ve essentially already moved on from him anyway.

I’d go ... I saw this on a Seattle board and thought it was solid. THIS ISNT A OFFICIAL OFFER FROM DALLAS

Terms: 3 years, $18 million

Incentives: up to $2 million in incentives to push the max value of the contract to $20 million.

Signing bonus: $6 million

Guaranteed money: $8 million

***The team will likely add a void year on the back of this. What that does: it makes the contract a 4 year deal for salary cap purposes. The player will become a free agent after 3. This added void year will allow the team to push some of the signing bonus off to year 4. This lessens the cap hits for years 1-3 while leaving a small dead cap in year 4.

Cap hits by year:

  • 2021: $3.5 million
  • 2022: $5 million
  • 2023: $8 million
  • 2024: $1.5 million (Void year)

Woods got almost $3M and Neal got $5M KJ is not coming for Woods money.
He can want what he wants all he wants.

It doesn't appear that the market is in his favor.

Reed should get twice what he does IMO.

And you’re talking about a soon to be 32 year old linebacker in Wright.
I think we need to stop counting guys out cause they hit 30 brotha. The nutrition and year round body maintenance these guys do coupled with scientific and medical advancements have guys playing well into their 30’s.

Do I think a 32 year old KJ Wright can give me a season of high level play? Yes.

I don’t know that things are that bad with Vander Esch.

It doesn't appear that the market is in his favor.

Reed should get twice what he does IMO.

It's because he is asking for the following and refused to give Seattle a hometown discount:

NFL reporter Josina Anderson reported last month that Wright was seeking a deal commensurate with his recent production. He made $6.75 million per season on his 2014 extension and $7.75 million APY on the two-year deal he signed after hitting free agency in 2019. Wright maxed out that deal by hitting a playing-time escalator and playing in every game over those two seasons.

He won't get $7.75M this year, but he is not coming for less than $3M.

Fisher is a hack and I hope he reads this so he knows he’s a hack.

he once spent all day arguing with me and sending his fan boys after me on Twitter for implying he makes stuff up lol

The Bucs did.

Thinking guys over 30 automatically suck by default is wrong. Equally, thinking guys that are 23/24 are inherently better than a vet is wrong minded.

Folks act like being 31 is a death sentence.
