To the chagrin of many Cowboys fans, the team has rightfully shied away from older, high priced free agents. They usually never pan out the way the team would hope. There are exceptions, Tom Brady, but the vast majority under perform. The Cowboys believe in building the team with youth with a few veterans sprinkled in for leadership purposes. Just look at the core of young talent they have right now. Prescott is 27, Zeke 25, Cooper 26, CeeDee 21, Gallup 24, Jaylon 25, Diggs 22 and LVE 24. Probably one of the better group of young talent in the entire NFL. They’ve got 10 picks to use in the draft in less than 2 weeks so will have another group of young talent to supplement and already stacked core of young talent. The arrow is pointing up for this team and not just for this year but for sustained success. Ignorant fans want the bling of some high priced free agent between breaks with their Madden game. But the Cowboys have a plan in place that is finally going to show the fruits of that labor. Good times ahead. Except for the haters.
Patrick Sertain II is just 21 too, just had a birthday. Good post, Rocky.

Not on defense.

The only bright spot is Diggs. I don't see LVE as part of Dallas's future. Not because he's not good. But because of his precondition neck injuries. Jaylon is an overpaid bust. Not worth spending a 2nd rounder on.

We still have big holes to fill on the defense. Yet we signed risky injured players and backups. Nothing to sneeze about. We can have the best offense in the world. But if we can't stop anyone from scoring, it will be a total massacre each and every game.

It’s weird that you left out Collins to me. He might be the most valuable of them behind Dak.

It's not what you have, it's what you do with it that matters. Hopefully they can do something with these guys.

Butler at $3.2m for 1 year would have been their best FA pick up, imo. I think they missed not offering him that deal.

Zeke, Jaylon, LVE are either overbearing contracts, injured, or borderline bad.

We have a nice young core of offensive talent, but not much on defense. Thats the problem.

This is how Jerry tricks the clueless

The Cowboys have been as good as anybody from 1-10 on their depth chart for well over a decade...this is nothing new

The problem was and still is 11-53 isn't even close to being a contending team...but the fools still buy in

Fool and clueless. Great way to describe this thread.

@Rockport Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see Lawrence on your list of great youngsters. Is that because Lawrence stinks or is it because he will soon be 29 and is no longer young?

There is a possibility Elliott, Jaylon Smith, LVE, Lawrence, and either Cooper or Gallop will all be gone after this season.

Elliott, Jaylon Smith, and Lawrence are grossly overpaid and the talent that was there is declining fast. Just a matter of time before LVE is injured once again. And the team can only keep either Cooper or Gallup since the team paid Dak $40M/year.

Hope the Cowboys have an awesome draft this year since they will need the players to replace those exiting.

If you think LVE, Jaylon, and Zeke are part of a great young core, then you are just clueless. Nothing hating about it. Just realistic.
I’m not giving up on Jaylon and LVE yet. I don’t quit so easily like you do. We’ll see their worth this years under a new coaching staff.
