Problem is I wont be around then either.Parcells was the last HC we've had and might be the last one we ever have until Jerry and Stephen and no longer around.
Don’t forget the Fanny patsWhat did Jason Garrett know? Clapping and spitting? At least Big Mike has a ring.
This is not entirely true. I heard this today and David Moore was not stating anything as fact. It was just his opinion on what's going on.David Moore w/ Norm Hitzges on The Ticket today -
- There's a lack of defensive "expertise" in the front office and scouting department
- Ownership/franchise culture is offensive-centric. (Cowboys have not resigned a 1st rd pick on defense since Demarcus Ware)
- Scouts lean towards offensive players to satisfy the owner
- The last two Cowboys head coaches were offensive-minded
- This dynamic leads to a situation where the franchise leans on the defensive coordinator excessively regarding personnel decisions
- They always view the next defensive coordinator as their "savior". Meanwhile, in Baltimore, a new DC is expected to contribute to established defensive culture.
- When the DC is fired or goes elsewhere (Norm mentioned Quinn leaving for another HC job if he turns this thing around), the franchise has to start from scratch because there's no foundational defensive system in place here in Dallas
- Mentioned how now they're throwing numbers at the problem in hopes that competition will fix the problem (no real plan)
Yup. The 90s teams were as much about defense as they were about the triplets. People forget that. Our DL may have been the best ever top to bottom in 1992.Jimmy’s Cowboys had great defense as well.
#1 D during the 1992 SB run that could stuff the run, pressure QBs, generate turnovers, and make it difficult to convert third downs.
It’s interesting how two people can hear the same exact segment and come away with different takes on what was saidDavid Moore w/ Norm Hitzges on The Ticket today -

He did make it to the playoffs once, but we were the most boring offensive team I can ever remember.Yep. Parcells was the last HC to have a defensive system effectively installed.

Yep.BINGO!
I don’t know what we got at hc right now but I’d like to believe that Coach Garrett was out there teaching technique all the way down to the basics on the defensive side of the ball. So this talk about him being a offensive oriented coach is a giant crock. Because when I look back all I saw was a leader of men and the giant mistake it was to let him out the door.
I just really miss the way he casually insults the patrons. I guess when Garrett got fired he lost his appetite?.Who cares frfr
I agree it wouldn’t shock me if it’s true but the original poster is stating it like David Moore is dropping a exclusive and he’s not.The the entire thread should start off with
David Moores take (opinion)
Instead of being presented as fact.
I'll admit I'm certain there is some degree of truth, but there is some pure speculation as well. If the scouts lean offense for Jerry it sure seems they changed their tune this year.
