His style of play (during his prime) was never going to translate to long term success.

He wasn't a finesse receiver that ran good routes and moved the chains.

He was a YAC and jump ball guy and once that youthful explosiveness was gone, he didn't have anything left to offer.

That's nice that we've confirmed he has desire. Until he has a bad game, then he'll want to quit again.

Maybe he could put on a few pounds of muscle and play TE.

breaking a leg and an Achilles tear will cause problems.

Dez is a gifted athlete.

he can still play football.

It's hard to walk away from anything you love doing, especially when you've been doing it at a high level for a while. Dez's career went downhill after the Lisfranc surgery which seemed to take away that extra explosivness. Tough injury to come back from for those skill players. I do think he can still play in this league as a 4th or 5th receiver or hybrid TE, but think most teams rather go another direction.

he tore an Achilles .

Not many WRs come back from that.

It's sad that he can't let himself move on.

He wasn't a quality route runner, so I know he probably has no good position coach career waiting for him (and probably doesn't have the temperament or the reliability for that anyway if we're being real).

Honestly, though, I bet he had some great workout habits and could have a very nice niche for himself when it comes to training athletes (on the workout side of things, not the technician stuff that actual route-runners would be able to teach), and there'd be no shortage of young prospects who grew up watching his highlights and playing with him in Madden. A rich college program would probably love to give him a cushy gig where all he does is workout with their skill position guys and go on the road to help recruit star-struck kids who grew up idolizing him during his prime.

73 TDS.

ran routes good enough for Romo.

I have that same desire, not sure if it'll happen though. He should consider this as well.

That was after his career was over with the Cowboys and he signed with the Saints. His career was declining post Lisfranc with the Cowboys and he was never the same.

Dez + Brees would have been magic.

too bad we never got to see that.

im all for Dez.

anyone who battles back from injuries like his deserves a lot of credit.

More to do with we had a new qb who wasn't accurate and couldn't throw Dez staple, back shoulder pass

I hereby implore Jerry to hire Dez to sweep the locker room floor, if nothing else! He really needs a job. Thanks, boss!

Misspoke it was a Jones fracture, middle of foot injuries are confusing. But none the less Dez wasn't the same player after.

Some blame Dak's arm and yes the back shoulder fade wasn't as easy for him, but look Dez wasn't getting a lot of separation. If he was still that good NFL teams would be knocking down the door to get him.

Dez continues to screw himself, really do not feel sorry for him. Instead of whining about Tebow maybe stop burning bridges to teams who actually gave you a chance.

anyone blaming Dak for Dez problems is a joke. I don't see other Dallas WR having any issues with Dak. Fact is Dez never could control his emotion and they always got the better of him, once he gets frustrated and loses focus and his play looks like garbage. Dez problems is Dez and time for him to grow up.
