I didn't know DLaw and his contract were this bad

Lawrence would be a better player if he wasn't supposed to be the lead dog on the defense. He is probably getting double teamed and doesn't have anyone else to take that double team off of him.

He doesn't get double teamed as much as you think. When Quinn was playing on the left side he faced more double teams than Lawrence. And from the games I saw last year, Gregory faced a lot of double teams too.

I keep hearing how good Lawrence is against the run, but I don't see it. Watch the games where the Cowboys faced running QBs and notice how many times Lawrence gets fooled and chases the RB while the QB run outside him for a big gain. Then go back and watch Demarcus Ware play outside for Dallas. Notice how he almost never let the play get outside him. They let Ware go when he was a better player then than Lawrence is now.

Dlaws value goes far beyond a sack stats number....when you are the best player on a terrible defense it's very easy for the other team to plan exactly for you...as the defense improves so will his stats and how his Contract looks

This is garbage - he had guys the last 2 season on the opposite side so don’t make excuses. While Quinn was getting sacks DLaw was still stuck at the line of scrimmage. Gregory came in strong late last season and Smith started off hot.
Teams were not just doubling DLaw like some want to believe

He hasn’t come anywhere near living up to his contract. It’s an awful contract and the worst on the team.

I think he is a good player but nowhere near the contract he is getting

does not effect the fans . period end of story and the team officials obviously have more of handle on the cap and team issues, not the fans..we watch football and debate games etc ..

$$$ has absolutely nothing to do with fans. Period..

so crying like bunch of karens her on forum about a 3 yr old deal is accomplishing what??

Au contraire, anything that affects one's favorite team most certainly affects the interest of an avid fan, and $$$ management does indeed affect a team, be it for better or worse. That makes it fair game for discussion, and that's what happens on a forum.

His contract is high and he doesn’t get as many sacks as I want but he is a good player at least.
Jaylon meanwhile has been horrible and has a huge contract. Zeke wasn’t good last year and RBs are cheap. Dak...well we will see if his contract is bad or not. If he plays really well, we won’t be talking about his contract, esp after the next QB gets an even bigger payday

I am sorry you can't understand that dlaws value go far beyond a sack total. He’s been the best player on a garbage defense and does much more than any other player on the d.

there is so much more to his play and if you watch the tape then you will see he is routinely double and triple teamed which impacts his stats.

if you think our defense sucks now, imagine it without him..,.

I wish they would have not signed both DLaw and and traded Elliott. Our defense is trash anyways, and him and his single digit sack numbers won't help a single bit. I would rather us break the bank for Aaron Donald or Kalil Mack.

Pollard could have handled the work load as a rookie. Trade Elliot for a 1st and draft a end in that year. There were very good edge rushers that year that we could have gotten if we didn't put our eggs into Dlaw and Zeke.

I think the dumber move was picking Taco over Tj Watt, but yea Lawrence is bad and I have a feeling it’ll be his last year, dead money or not.

Taking Zeke over Ramsey is also up there. But resigning Zeke for 90 million is the #1 all time dumb move. Taco is right there as well.

Dlaw is definitely underperforming so to speak. And he should have more sacks. But he is the one bad contract I can live with.

I'd take 2 dlaws over 1 dlaw and 1 zeke any day....another player like him on defense would make a huge difference

Saying he's undefperfoirming and should have more sacks vs calling him garbage and a bad player are different things....

So many fans here don't know what they would be missing if he weren't here...sure he should have a few more sacks but he makes the whole defense better

If they can ever get a push up the middle he will have more sacks.

That mediocrity is the norm here is not at issue, urchin.
It is, at least in me mind, that DLaw has this huge contract and a small impact on this team.

I will not argue his value on the team. As I mentioned I do think he is a good all around D-end. Im saying what he does on the field is not worththe contract he is getting. He is getting paid like a 12-16 sack threat. He isnt that player. There are other guys around the lead that bring his type of value and are not getting paid anywhere what he is getting paid.

My biggest issue is the IMPACT ON THE GAME!! How many times have we gone against a team with a solid pass rusher. The effect that the player has on our o line is amazing, and all we're asking is for Lawrence to have an impact. Pressure the qb often, and make him uncomfortable often

DLaw's deal is 'bad' because they Dak'd him.
I.E. they slow played paying him to "make him earn it" and he did in spades then held all the leverage.
So his AAV is quote high.

They drafted Taco R1 to replace him(real reason they weren't in on Watt was they wanted a DLaw replacement/SDE) which just made his leverage and value go up.

As to the stat stuff, it's nonsense. DLaw is BY FAR the team's best defender.
He is a championship caliber defender who is a plus player versus run and pass.
He falls to just average when he plays injured, which he does.

Using philly based articles to prove points here is just basically trolling. Do better.

Reality is Dallas can cut DLaw next year and save a ton of cap space if they so choose.
Contracts are seldom bad 3 years into them because GTD money is all paid off.

of the bad contracts on this team and there are a few of them. DLaw's is the one that can somewhat live with. He at least is the best player on defense. Zeke, Jaylon is terrible contract. The dak contract Ill wait and see. Cooper is a bit inflated as well but he is the best receiver on team.

Wow. Next?
Salary cap doesn't exist to this one.

I respect the adage Ignorance is Bliss and it's real.
It is very real.
its not for fans to worry about PERIOD this is the siie with sports, period..you ll feel the need to worry about fionacials odf sperts when sports have always been and will always be just supportng and watjhinh your tema play then dicus the games..

its sad fans FEEL like they are part of the business side of sports,

THE ARE NOT!

NOR are they in any way experts on any of the subjects that commonly get duscussed here..

you all read and regurgitate, thats it, you know nothing they dont want you to know..

sad really,
yuo all's lives are so mundane you feel the need to advise a billionaire owner of a sports team how he should run it and that you know how to run it better..

lmao its egomaniacal behavior. You all couldn't get hired in any capacity to get near the inner circle of any Sports Franchise let alone the DC..

thats Fact i find it entertaining and hilarious fans THINK and FEEL they know better..

the DC FO ownership have this covered..

you cant do it better,

let us know when you are independently rich like have 5 billion , then we can discus how you can get on list that could take 20years to purchase a NFL Team , then let me know how things work out with all this knowledge locked up in virtual world of Keyboard experts..

SMH

when the reality hits that fans are truly not in the lop, not experts, cant wont ever truly have a clue on how to run team..

Jerry was a billionaire before he bought the near bankrupt DCs and then proceeded to win 3 SBS and has this the richest franchise in the world. so somehow the CZ experts have handle on the cap and contracts more so then the DC?

you all feel you need to advise him on something as what players he would sign and for how much and how its mistake to and signed someone..

newsflash he has team of lawyers, CPAS, carpologist and employees larger then you can comprehend, they got it handled

they are the the only sports franchise that pay players that dont live up tot eh contracts.

it happens its quite normal actually.. its the price of doing business, they all make mistakes but adjust to them and move forward..

now go shine some shoes because that exactly what you are when trying to compare yourself to the DC Ownership group..

Another example of a good player getting elite money. It would make more sense if he was the missing piece on defense that we needed to elevate us to being a top defense. But you can find run stopping defenders cheaper. It's so hard to build a complete team when so many guys get overpaid.
