The guy coaching the team hasn’t even earned it.
He doesn't wear a helmet....... Head Coaches arrive with it.

Up to them to adorn who's who.

So quick to judge......as if you know.

You’re just looking for something to nitpick man. That’s all. I mean a star on a rookies helmet during a media photo shoot? They do this all the time.

It’s not the same as wearing it in practice.

You know this but are just looking for
Something to needle about. Lol
It's not nitpicking IMO. I'm aware it's common practice for the PR department to take photos of the rookies in full uniform before they are allowed to wear the star on their helmets at practice, but previously they respected their privileged access. They did not allow these photos to be leaked prematurely. However, today that respect no longer exists. I blame this on social media. They are so quick to get the scoop on Parsons in full uniform including the star on his helmet. I care about the tradition of the rookies having to earn the right to wear that star. You obviously do not respect the tradition and so you see my observation as nitpicking. Parsons is not meant to be seen with this star on his helmet yet. This leak is blasphemous IMO. I'm not trolling or joking or drinking. I'm dead serious. It matters to me that we respect tradition. But Parsons is somehow treated differently and he has not earned it.

@JoeKing is the antithesis of troll mode.
Rocky, I thought you respected tradition. The concept that the star must be earned before worn on the helmet has been a long-standing tradition of the Cowboys. But now you are calling me a troll for standing up for tradition?

Antithesis means the opposite. He's basically saying that you're not a troll. For example, the Cowboys are the antithesis of the Philadelphia Eagles. They suck, and we're awesome.

You’re nitpicking and whining about nonsense.

If you’re actually serious. Then it’s even sadder than I thought.

Bad choice of words on my part. I meant you are the opposite of a troll. I 100% agree that the star must be earned before being worn. It's like boot camp. We weren't called Marines until we graduated boot camp. Before that we were called all sorts of interesting things.

Curious as to why you feel this is blasphemous. It's not like it is a long standing tradition of the Dallas Cowboys. Bill Parcels and Jason Garrett were the 2 coaches who required rookies to earn the star and now McCarthy has kept it going. Neither of the 3 coaches have accomplished anything with the Cowboys. I get some people liking this requirement, but blasphemous? That's a little extreme.

It's not poor word choice. You can't blame yourself for someone else's lack of understanding.

Personally, I don't hold the tradition in high regard. Everyone that makes the team gets a star. We all know no one from the first few rounds gets cut year one. So it's basically a participation award. Big deal.

I do hold many traditions in high regard. This one was started by Parcells wasn't it? He was a good coach, but he left before he took us anywhere. Why do we need to honor him? Maybe I'm wrong, but regardless I view this one as nothing more than a participation award.

This tradition was started by Parcells.

Parcells is one of my favorite coaches. Loved Parcells.

That being said this “tradition” is only about 20 years old, and the franchise has won ZERO since it began.

Either way, if the they are doing photos of players IN UNIFORM they always have the stars on their helmets because it’s part of the uniform. Him having the star on his helmet for a photo shoot is not breaking the tradition anyway. Because he won’t have the star during practice.

The argument is nitpick nonsense.

The new number change makes professionals look like amateurs. Hate it.
I see your general point and agree.....but something feels very right about the 11 on Parsons.

That said, I'm not going to be happy watching defensive backfield players wearing a kickers number.

Some things don't need to be changed but if the league sees a money grab, they are never going to not take it.
