Rocky, please, believe me, I'm not attacking you. I wish you wouldn't get so defensive when it's you and I talking. I have no need to be confrontational with you even if we aren't seeing things the same way. I have no motivations spurn by you "making a fool of me", even if such a thing was possible.

I would be doing you a disservice to reveal things to you that you need to figure out for yourself at your own pass. I believe in you buddy and I know you have the brainpower to do it for yourself. No pressure, friend. You can do it.

Straight from the campgrounds in Oxnard, don't miss any developments surrounding the Cowboys' preseason and training camp position battles.

July 23

Mike McCarthy said Friday that second-year quarterback Ben DiNucci has put together an impressive offseason and may have closed the gap in the backup competition.

"I thought definitely he was one of the top guys in the offseason program as far as weight gain and strength gains in that particular area," McCarthy said. "We've just got to get him playing with a little more patience and a little more confidence."
Competition is a great thing!

I don't know. Romo himself admitted that his mechanics were awful his first year and needed a lot of work. Obviously, he showed reason to keep him as a rookie, while I'm not sure DiNucci did. But the biggest question is whether DiNucci is going to have the same kind of work ethic it took for Romo to go from a small-school kid with bad mechanics to a franchise quarterback. DiNucci's ceiling might not be that high no matter what he does, but I think it's good to hear that he's working on improving himself as a player. We might at least get a decent backup out of him eventually.

You think Romo would have agreed that he should have rotted on the bench for 3 years? I doubt it.

Dak was a fourth-round pick taken to start off as a backup to Romo. Does he not count since Romo got hurt and Dak had to start.

Dak looked great in preseason. So did Romo. Denucci sucks. Its sooo obvious. Anytime a coach wishes his young QB would have more confidence its a death sentence.

We shouldn't judge him for that one game. He shouldn't have been in that game in the first place. A raw rookie with no training camp going up against a good defense, he had no chance at all.

Oh! You'll have to change your user name after this season. ;)
Yup those judging him on that one game will use the pitt game as proof that GG is the next coming of Kurt Warner.

How does Denucci look in preseason? Oh wait, he never had one to look at what he can do.

Good thing is Nucc can be stashed on PS this year and no team would come looking for him, so he can continue to develop in under the Cowboys.

How do you know he doesn’t have a chance to be the backup? Are you a QB coach? Have you seen his every practice? Have you watched how he acts in th e QB meetings? No you haven’t. All you’ve seen is his one horrific start when he stunk up the place. A start when the entire offensive line was playing 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers. A start when he played behind the worst defense in Dallas Cowboys history. I have no clue if he’s going to win the backup QB slot but I’m willing to give him a chance and not quit so easily on a player like you seem to do.
none of us here are coaches etc..JUST FANS with a take. Some takes are more credible than others. Depends who you talk to.

The college film on him looked pretty good. What he showed in his one start last year looked very bad.

The CAA Offensive Player of the Year at James Madison completed 268-of-378 attempts for 3,441 yards and 29 touchdowns with six interceptions his senior year, so he did something right. Let's hope that he can develop back into that on a much higher level.
He was a good college player who needed to develop
He had virtually no camp and not a single pre season game
It was foolish to expect him to come in a have a great game in the nfl
I still think he’s worth trying to develop though I expect he will be on PS

IN order to have SOME success, one has to get playing time. Look at the mustache man in Jacksonville. He went from nothing to all of the sudden the man is gonna have a decent NFL career from here on because he has has shown he can be a backup. DiNucci got one whole start and that is supposed to tell us exactly what he could do in the NFL???
