Who else is still riding the high of Jason Garret being gone?

Barely had a chance to celebrate.

Jerry only had one candidate in for a serious interview. Candidate lied to him about studying analytics. Jerry ate it up and hired fat Garrett. Nothing has changed. The Cowboys flagship station makes fun of the head coach every single day. They were asking people what McCarthy does in training camp. No one could come up with an answer.

Two Packer fans at work complained about Corky for years and would go into great detail about how awful he was....one of them read EVERYTHING and seemed quite plugged into things as well....so when The Clapping Carrot was finally fired, I knew my life well enough to realize what was right around the corner for me and my team. I wanted Urban soooooo bad!!!

I didn't really want to start a thread on this topic, but I'm seriously wondering if anyone else is still feeling incredibly happy now that Garrett is someone else's problem?

It was obvious to most of us pretty early on that he didn't have the skills to get team over the hump so it was definitely one of the most difficult things I've had to endure as a fan watching him stick around year after year.

I know many of you are ready to give up on Big Mike already, but at least he has won a super bowl, and in my opinion, has a winning pedigree and understands how to put together a team. We need to keep an open mind with Big Mike at this point, last year can't be the barometer in my opinion.

I also want to apologize to my forum members who will cringe when they see another Jason garret thread! Bottom line, I'm still like a kid in a candy store knowing he's gone.

Personally I think only a tyrant type coach can win with this team until the crypt keeper is gone. Sorry butt players come here for money or are
Personally, I liked JG quite a bit. I was hopeful he's be around to lead us to the SB. Almost made it the NFCCG a couple years but AR... DAMN YOU AR! And The Catch. I mean, it is what it is. I am hopeful for the future but do miss JG.

GO COWBOYS!

it was a catch and we were screwed. Why did Murray fumble tho? Garrett was a supposed offensive guru and he couldn't do it

Not me, but I continue to do things the right way and try to stack good days. In spite of the dark days we have been living through.

Bottom line, you're saying he sucks because of the last few years and already ready to declare him as a bust. There is not a coach that doesn't eventually wear out his welcome and need a change. If you can't see that Big Mike is a very good head coach I can't help you. As much as some of you harp on some of the bad decisions he made last year I actually thought he did a great job considering the circumstances with injuries and covid. The only real blunder that I can point to is hiring Mike Nolan, to me this wasn't a great choice on any level, but all coaches make mistakes.. Pete Carroll is a prime example of a very good coach who has made some bad decisions! Carroll was 1 yard away from winning a super bowl and didn't hand the ball to marshawn.

Fair enough, No worries then.
I am not one of those who will try to get personal on a difference of opinion unless I'm personally attacked.

not saying i wish we hadn't made the move and winder with covid and no offseason would it had been better season then 6-10 with Garett and Marinelli standing pat with schemes..hmm
hard at 6-10 Misérable last yr not sure how you can be excited??
Actually I can't see how you can't be optimistic? There was no off season for our new head coach, no pre season games to look at young players, no time to install a gameplan properly, ETC.............. Even with the most injuries to key players I've seen in my lifetime, Big Mike was able to make the team much better with backups toward the end of season! I thought he was a steady hand quite honestly and could see the calming effect he had on the players. Again, you and I are worlds apart, I guess I look for the good things, and especially so when much of negative can be explained by circumstances.

Someone such as yourself who is so quick to just notice what wasn't right, has either lost the ability to believe, or looking for validation for negative statements or premature opinions that have formed.

you said are you still riding the highs from Garett's departure, its NO because last season was torture..

being optimistic about 2021 has nothing to do with Garrett being gone..many seasons Garett was the coach we had some shots at the prize..

so when MM does something Garett hasn't, ill change my mind..right now its mote of the dame, disappointment regardless of the excuses..

so NFCCG appearance and ill change my mood :)

however each years new year and im equally optimistic as DC Fan its year to year deal reboot and hope for the best..

was 2007-2009 2014, 16, 2018 not fun ? we had talent..

I wanted a new coach after 10 years of Garrett but was never "riding the high" of him being gone because he's not the problem.

He was just one of many symptoms of the problem over the last 25 years.
Many say that Jimmy won despite of Jerry, why couldn't Garrett do it? Maybe, because he sucked?

I love Garret the man, but never liked him as a head coach, and after around a decade of the same song and dance I gave up. Garret operated on the moniker "Coach in Development" which is damaged from the start, but I held out hope for 6 or 7 years.

There is absolutely nothing wrong for seeing some of the positives that Big Mike is bringing to the table, just look around man! This team is starting to get much better with depth, and he is allowing guys to actually play when Garret would of allowed them to rot on the bench.

Did it really take you a decade to give up? I was done after the 2nd of 3 straight 8-8's.

Honestly yes, I kept looking for positives until there were none left. Garret's biggest downfall was that he was such a good salesman of himself, but he
had nothing of any substance to back it up. Jerry's ego once again was to blame for that debacle.

Is this the biggest achievement over the last 25 years for this franchise?

I lost all hope the second he was hired. You knew immediately Jerry made a mistake, just like you knew when he hired him before Phillips to begin with. The whole setup stunk. But then giving him a promotion to HC like he wasn't part of the problem.. what a joke.

I respect that, and believe it or not I got to be around him a little as well back in the 90's when he made appearances at some of the golf shops I went to.. He seemed very fake to me back then with how he interacted, and I can imagine most players checked out on him pretty quickly as well.. I do think he is decent person for the most part though, he just isn't a good coach.
