Dak was amazing and we still lost which doesn’t say much for the team around him and the coaching. That was one of the best performances of his career and he still came away with an L. If the rest of the team was as good as he is we would be competing for Super Bowls every year. He needs some help! His receivers need to stop dropping balls and the defense needs to stop giving up TDs and make critical stops. Dak is having to carry the team.
I continue to think of it as a team game. I haven't gotten back around to rewatching all of the Tampa Bay game, but I started a thread looking at each drive and why it failed. The first drive shows that Dak was part of the failures as well as the successes. Our drive stalled after on first down, he threw short on a downfield out route to Lamb. Then, Lamb dropped a pass right to him and the protection by Elliott on a blitz and Smith against Vea broke down on third down.
Dak completes that first-down pass and the other two bad plays don't happen. Lamb catches the pass right to him and maybe the third-down breakdown doesn't happen. Elliott picks up the blitzing linebacker and maybe we erase those first two mistakes.
So as well as Prescott played, the opportunity was there for more that might have resulted in a win. This isn't different from most other quarterbacks, though, so I'm not criticizing Dak. I'm just saying there are multiple reasons that we lost and all the players bear some of the responsibility for it. Quarterbacks get too much credit and too much blame.
