They both were close to breaking one, several times yesterday. I commented in the game day thread. Either Zeke or Tony may break one soon, maybe both.
Bother were running well, and this is a great thing.

Not hard to figure out why both guys are having success.

Chinn got off his block and was in full sprint while Zeke was fighting off 42. You can see here in this picture that Zeke is gearing down to evade the tackler and Chinn and #29 are in pursuit..

Notice Zeke is near the hash marks ..

Then here when #42 gets to him he is moving sideways.. meanwhile Chinn continues sprinting upfield.

Now here you can see Zeke has finally completely shed the tackler and turns upfield.. But by this time Chinn has run 10 yards towards the endzone while Zeke has been trying to avoid the tackle. Chinn is MUCH closer to full speed at this point than Zeke is.

You can see here where Chinn is already ahead of Zeke as they are about to cross the 35 yard line.

They basically remain in that relationship for the next 25 yards until Chinn pushes him out of bounds. One thing I didn't notice before was that Zeke clearly slows down towards the end of the run in anticipation of the hit. I think if he just keeps his head down and moves away from the sideline he probably breaks the tackle and scores. Either way, the run was not long enough for Zeke to reach full speed no matter what people try to tell you. But kudos to Chinn.. great hustle play by him. Like I keep saying, you don't get coast to coast runs without wide receivers blocking.. Notice no wide receivers out there blocking on this play and the DB chases it down.

Great job!

I love it.
Keeps defenses off balance as well.
Especially when on the field at the same time.

And what really tough defenses are out there left on our schedule, unless they improve.
Maybe WFT and they look vulnerable at times. Saints don't look all that tough at this point. I though NYG would be better, but so far they aren't.

NE defense looks better than I thought though, at least last night. Then again the weather was a factor.
Vikings defense, not sure about.
So Raiders and Cardinals defense could be a challenge, but we have them at home also.

The Zeke hate is real in this forum geez.....Hey I'm not a big fan of the guy but he brought it yesterday, if he helps the Cowboys win I'm all for it....if both backs help us get to the SB even better.

From the replay it looks like Chinn was moving fast so either Zeke slowed down or is slower overall, Chinn was a 4.45 guy in the combine Zeke is 4.47. I do not think those times are accurate now.

Looking at the replay posted, Chinn was sprinting at the angle while Elliott was still working his way through a couple of defenders (he had to bend his run in and then out), which definitely slowed him from just being able to hit full sprint. There's really no way he should have been expected to outrun Chinn unless he had 4.2 or 4.3 speed with a fantastic after-burner kick. Best he could have done IMO is to try to cut back inside of him, but he might not have gained as much yardage if Chinn played that well.

I agree it was a good run by Zeke. And i think he did the right thing, so much could have gone wrong trying to avoid the tackle like a fumble or something.

Heard the field is slanted downhill going that direction

Having been down on that field several times I can tell you it absolutely is.. All football fields are higher in the middle and get progressively lower towards each sideline and each end zone. They used to do it for drainage.. Hard to say why they still do it for indoor stadiums but they do..

Dude is a baller. I was hoping we could have gotten him in that draft.

Yeah I liked him in the draft too.. It would have been very easy for him to jog behind that play and let Zeke take it to the house and nobody would have known any different.. But as a player he looked inside himself and decided he would not just give up. I love that in a player..

Reading this thread you would think the safety fetched him from the far side of the field after being blocked for 10 yards which just isn't the case.

Zeke is plenty fast and probably got a bit faster after offseason training (which was absolutely needed).

What people fail to realize is that last year our offensive line was a 2nd tier or 3rd tier Oline, without a QB. What do you think will happen when that happens?
