By doing what you are saying, you are paying a 30 year mortgage interest rate, which is higher than a 15 year mortgage rate, for 17 years. Versus paying a lower interest rate for 15 years.
It’s all about the principal payment. They get the interest rate it’s insignificant. There’s such the same

My neighbors house is very similar 10k Sq ft. My neighbors are an 80+ couple with no kids. My neighborhood has minimum 4500sq ft homes and ranges up to 12k sq ft. was originally planned as an empty Nestor community...people like their space regardless if they're single, married have a big family, whatever.

Then there is always what makes logical scene.

Min wage worker having a wife and 8 kids, while he might love kids it's illogical, it can't afford them!

Again, it's all personal preferences and what is right for you. Someone could easily say 600sqft is more than enough and makes logical sense. It's doable, but others may not agree.

But they’re both probably the same sq ft and lot size? LOL

Born in Texas, and I still miss those housing prices.
Get yourself some cows.....I get an ag exemption and pay about half the taxes I would have to pay otherwise.....

Young guy 21 brings his girlfriend home to meet his parents, yep, logical.

His girlfriend is 57 years old, yep, illogical.

We have things that are simply do and don't and it doesn't matter about personal opinions.

Knock on a door TRICK OR TREAT, yep, logical it's Halloween.

Try that in July.

No it’s the same rate at least in New England. They both like 2%. And even if it isn’t. Are you still paying so much more almost double at the 15 year rate. Take out the 30 year mortgage and turn it into 17 years. You’ll pay so much less a month on top of it. Banks don’t tell you this . You’ll take 13 years off your mortgage. The interest rate is insignificant
I suggest you talk to a financial expert. All things being the same (same bank, same credit rating, etc), 30 year interest rates will always be higher than a 15 year interest rate. One reason is the bank is at risk for default for a longer period of time.
People don't take out 15 year mortgages because they don't qualify for them. But what you are saying is a good way to attack a 30 year mortgage. Bottom line, it is all about the amount of interest you are paying. That is the whole reason for turning a 30 year mortgage into a 17 year mortgage as you suggest. BTW, a 15 year mortgage monthly payment is not twice as much as a 30 year monthly mortgage payment if that is what you were suggesting.

I can joke with the best of them, but considering what I've seen up close and personal, I don't joke about things like that. It's all good.

Let's be honest, dude doesn't need a mansion. Try....overkill.

Married man bunch of kids, ok ok...mansion.
Long as you dont pay something stupid you rarely can go wrong with real estate. Typically it always goes up in prices and if your not desperate to sell, you should always make a profit, i have never had a house lose me money till this day and have made me a lot of money after living in it. Its like living for free and make a profit from it.

My first house was a 2k sqft home (by no means a mansion lol) , 3 bedroom 2 bath 2 car garage, and a driveway for up to 8 cars. and was living alone. I see your point though, but honestly i probably would have a house like that if i could afford one xD

Not to mention being Dak Prescott makes that home go up in value because that is a selling point if you ever want to sell it in the future. Not that a home like that needs a selling point.

The OP’s video won’t play. Zillow estimates the house is worth $4.3 million. That set up would cost you over $15 million in the Los Angeles area.

I was gonna ask: Is $3 million still a mansion these days? lol

Anyone who can afford that price doesn't give a rat's *** that Dak once owned it.
