Belichick will take away half of Dallas's offense. Which one will it be?

Considering the possibility of rain, I think Bill will shutout the Cowboys running game. They will force Moore and Dak to throw more than they are accustomed too.

Which part of this offense will Bill shutdown?
Billy boy is about to get stomped on. You can say we are gonna stop the run all day, but when you faced the 90s cowboys that was the pan every week. I dont remember seeing Emmitt getting stopped very often.

The Pats stink, and it is going to be sweet, sweet,s weet watching it happen. Im not sure Ive looked forward to stomping a team this much in a long time.

If the weather is bad it makes it easier for Gregory in my opinion

True but if a team is having to bring up defenders to stop the run then you start putting yourself in one on one situations that will allow the Cowboys to take some big shots down the field.
true. it depends on how well your front 6 can do against the run if you want to drop a LB into coverage....he will probably play a lot of deep cover2 , dropping safties into coverage. with willingness to give up underneath stuff and middle of the field. they are really good at causing fumbles, so Schultz and company need to be very aware as they will try and punch out a lot of balls. they are a very good tackling team. billy is going to purposely try and shorten the game. he wouldn't mind long drives by us ending in field goals. reduce the number of possessions for our offense. and its much harder to throw in the redzone. Moore needs to attack vertically on the outside even if Dak can't go to the outside WRs, but open up the middle for Schultz and CD in soft coverage areas and take advantage of their RAC ability.....that's one way of stressing a cover 2 zone defense, that you have to attack vertically on the outside even if you don't plan to go there, but it stresses the safties....and once in a while, you end up in a one on one with a CB deep and you take your shot. Moore has to spread this DB field with the route combination he calls....

Looking at NFL.com the Pats have given up almost 1200 yards through the air in five games. The YPC are 12.0+.

They do better against the run. But these are the guys they have played.

Dolphins - - 96 carries 352 yards 3.7 avg........L
Jets - - 104 carries 370 yards 3.6 avg......W
Saints - - 156 carries 629 yards 4.0 avg......L
Bucs - - 103 carries 410 yards 4.0 avg......L
Texans - - 128 carries 399 yards 3.1 avg....W

Cowboys - - 163 carries 864 yards 5.3 avg............L

I understand this team has let us down for a very long time. But the Pats have not faced a running game - 2nd in the NFL - like the one they will see Sunday. I know all about Belichick, but his team hasn't exactly been the 85 Bears against the run.

Per NFL.com their LG and LT are out. Their RB and RG are questionable.

Mac Jones will throw at least one pick as he hurries his passes to keep Gregory and the Wolf from his door. Diggs will be waiting on the rookie.

You do you.

As for me, I think Dallas runs the ball against them, and passes the ball on them, and brings home the 5th win of the season.

I ain't afraid of no ghosts, or Belichick.
People have bought the Bill boy koolaid for a long time. Hes quickly turning into sour milk. No playoffs last year, no playoffs this year.

I think we should be fine with this.. The last team to sell out vs the run successfully still gave up 29 points and 450 yards passing and would have lost if not for several shanked kicks. I don't think the Pats offense has the firepower to go toe to toe with us through the air so frankly it would serve them better to play shell coverage and make us go the long route via the run. At least it's a slower death.. but still a death.

I will be shocked if BB plan is to get Mac Jones in a boat race with this offense also...I think he plays deep safties and hopes they can keep us behind the chains. If the score is rising in the first half too fast Mac will feed Diggs and I think BB knows this...

The run game.

We are 28-0 when we run more than we pass.

Teams worry about the run game more than they do Dak.
That is such a stupid stat. When are teams going to have more rushing attempts than passing attempts??? Oh, I dont know, maybe when you are able to run the ball down a teams throat? I suspect that if you looked up everyone of those 28 games, we didnt run the ball for 32 rushes and 66 yards. Just a guess on my part.

Unless its Raining and super windy I dont think BB tests 1v1 outside against us either...He does not have that kinda defense this year.

i think he'll try to take away our run game.
then use weird coverages to try and confuse Dak.
nothings easy with belichick.
this one will be close.
but we're a different team than '19.
balance on offense...and play-makers on defense.
i truly believe we are a pick your poison type of offense.
quick death over the top?
or slow painful death on the ground?
we're the better team.
im sure belichick will limit something.
but in the end...we have too many weapons.
and this might be the week we see something involving connor mcgovern.
a carry or two.....maybe even a pass play near the endzone or on a 2pt conversion.
i dont think belichick has the talent to stop both sides of our offense.

any time teams have kept 2 safeties deep Dallas has gouged them in the run and I don't see that changing. Teams then have been forced to bring strong safety up and Dallas has hit them deep. you Bring LB up leave the middle open Jarwin and Shultz will have a very good day. Problem Cowboys present is we can run the ball with great effectiveness but the passing game has made teams pay when they look to stop that run. Cowboys offense is a 2 edged sword focusing on stopping one thing only opens up other things for us.

Looked at forecast and as of now 5% chance of rain and 8 mph winds. Weather at this point does not look like it will factor in at all. Highs in the 60's nice football weather.

Yeah I saw those forecasts.. but as any New Englander can tell you .. the weather forecast is really only accurate for the next 5 minutes. I love to tell the story about a day my freshman year when I was leaving for an 11 am class.. It was about 10:30 am when I walked out my door.. It was cool and sunny.. and maybe 50 degrees.. I got about 100 yards out my door and it started to rain.. So I dashed back to my room and grabbed my umbrella. I got about 100 yards back down the path and the rain started to freeze and turn into sleet. So I ran back to my room and put on the duck boots and the rain coat.. I got about 200 yards this time when the wind started howling and the rain turned into snow.. and the temperature had dropped about 20 degrees in a matter of minutes. So I ran back to my dorm and replaced the rain coat with my overcoat and hat and gloves and what not.. By the time I reached the Science Center where my class was the weather had cleared up and it was back in the 50's.. and people looked at me like I was insane when I walked into the class having to peel off all the crap I had put on during this episode..

Belichick is having to rebuild this team, his ability as a HC is great but in the end all coaches need players and right now NE is having to rebuild with a rookie QB.

Well statistically you have to block the run. Dallas has a win streak while running more then passing, but expect your team to go for a shootout like TB.
he defintley won't want to get into a shoot out, since they don't have the fire power....he needs to make it a close game, kicks instead of TDs and make it a kicker vs. kicker game

This game might look a little ugly for the 1 .5 qaurters but once Dak and Moore unpack BB plan its going to get heated up quick as they Dont have the horses on either side of the ball to stay in this game. As every game so far "Any given Sunday" but if both teams play to thier best we should win by 2 scores again.

you are right. the first 1.5 quarters will be a feel each other, run some formations and plays and see how the other team responds and then the real game begins...so I fully expect a close close game in the first 1.5 quarters.

you read my mind.....its a back handed jab at Dak.

I wonder what the record is in the NFL for any team rushing more than they pass. I bet its a very close stat to ours.....I doubt if any team lost when they ran more than passed (if their QB wasn't injured and perhaps not playing their 3rd string QB)....

No doubt..BB still knows how to play chess with that defense just might take a second for KM and Dak to see the plan, once they do its going to heat up quick because that D has some holes on it.

he may go with a lot of 3 saftey look.....bring in another SS to help in run defense, but ability to drop into a zone. we probably will see a lot of cover 3 as well.

you know I had criticized Moore before. I knew he was in a bad situation in 2019...first year OC, under garrett no less and then last year losing Dak. but he is growing very quickly before our very eyes and I would be more than happy to eat crow, by the plateful. earlier in the year I criticized him for outsmarting himself and his redzone play calls. but he seems to have improved in both areas.

this is another growing step for him. learning to be patient...and he is showing some McVay traits in him...I remember a story about McVay that he would run a play and a formation early in the game to see how the defense would line up and respond. he would then remember it for later in the game at crucial time, knowing what routes he would call from the formation expecting the defensive alignment and response.... Moore is doing some of the same, he is picking up clues, and he is making adjustments, specially for second half, as we have been hot coming out in the 3rd quarter....that's great to see
