Sources now tell CowboysSI.com that while (as of 7:42 p.m. Thursday) the team does not yet have the MRI results, the medical staff has a positive feeling about what the MRI will show, and has a positive feeling about Smith's availability this week and going forward.

"He's planning on playing on Sunday,'' a source told CowboysSI.com.

As noted earlier on Thursday, the "concern level'' always exists any time a player is driven toward getting an MRI. But one source tells CowboysSI.com that this neck issue - whatever it is - "falls into the category of 'manageable.'''

"We fully expect it to be manageable,'' a source said.

Manageable? What does that mean? Soooo is there an issue or not? Was it just precautionary or what?

Breaking news per 105.3 the fan. Unfortunate if he’s out long term.

I don't remember who because I have the attention span of a potato, but I was arguing about grooming a LT not very long ago. Hopefully Lael is back soon, and we can play him at Left, and Steele at Right?

They better start letting Williams practice at LT, bring McGovern in at LG.

I hate clicking into the Zone to see one of these mid~week breaking news or injury update threads. Never know what I’m going to see.

This bye week is perfect timing. Diggs and even Zeke getting torn up too. I hope they can make it through the 17 game season without too much wear and tear. Homefield advantage with a bye week never looked better in these longer seasons.

We were all holding out breath with Tyron Smith, but I think we all knew there was no way this guy goes through a year without incident.

The fact that it his neck is pretty disturbing.

and so you are ok, with us trading collins, chance smith getting injured and have ball or Nsekhe play the LT spot....oooookkkk then:facepalm:

Yeah, I am. I feel confident with the OL players on the team right now. I still think the reward is greater than the risk. Backup plans are pretty good based on the overall talent on the offense and defense. The offense could weather the potential loss of an OL much better this year than previous years.

I also believe the play of Collins and Smith has peaked and they are on the downside. How fast they slide is unknown right now. I believe Collins will slide quicker. Smith is still playing well but that could change on a dime with injury which can't be predicted.

I also think Alarcon and Braylon Jones on the PS are going to be good backups next year. One site has Alarcon listed as an OT even though he played exclusively at guard during camp. I like the potential of Alarcon. They even have OT Aviante Collins on the PS. Don't know anything on him other than he has 4 years of experience out of Texas Tech.

I think Philbin is a good OL coach and I think he has a very good blocking scheme and is really coaching up the players. Philbin knows what type of players he needs and McClay and Team are finding them.

He’s obviously in pain again or they wouldn’t have done the MRI.

we all knew this was coming. Manageable to me means it’s a problem.

What is really disturbing are the posts in this thread over nothing.

Why wouldn't they just keep playing Smith? He has been excellent. They say he is going to keep playing.

Oops, I may have jinxed all this by admitting I was wrong, ugh. True we don't know the whole truth here, but let's be honest it was coming and now it's a matter of just how bad it is, and could become.

should have drafted Rashawn Slater
A lot of us wanted Slater but I have no problem with Parsons. Matter of fact so far looks like the right decision no matter what happens with Tyron. Just as long as they didn't draft a corner in that spot.
