I’d like to keep him but he may play his way out of Dallas.

He’s a good solid player but a lot of his success is due to teams being ok with Dalton Schultz trying to beat them and him just being a forgotten man.

Good player, good skill, but no need to pay the guy like he is some elite TE when he is really a 4-6 mill a year player.

He actually reminds me a little bit of Dallas Clark. Amazing that he barely had any receptions at Stanford.

He looks like a guy that spent a lot of time watching Jason Witten and is just a younger more athletic version of that, haha.

He doesn’t have a real weakness in his game.

He IS playing very well.

Loved him as a 4th rounder as they did not use the TEs at Stanford and he was talented.
Got abused here some for saying it was a good value pick on draft day.....lol

Although the Pro Bowl is a total joke with fan voting, injury replacements, elective dropout replacements, and playoff dropout replacements.....it still shows up on a resume.

Many of the best TEs are in the AFC (Kelce, Waller, Anderson, Fant) so that helps NFC guys.

I'd say, since Kittle is out and Gronk keeps getting hurt, that the frontrunners for the NFC are Hockenson and Pitts. But Higbee, Shultz, Goedert, Ertz, et all are in the running.

Yeah I always find it funny when he makes a reception and breaks a tackle rather than falling down!! Lol

Schultz doesn't have much of a chance. Not enough of a name to get voted in.

If we could sign him to a modest extension, similar to the average yearly salary we gave Jarwin, I would do it.

Anything more than that may be cost prohibitive.

Probably true.

I suspect Hockenson and Pitts are the NFC guys, but the Pro Bowl replacements run embarrassingly deep.
The worst is for QBs. I think Mitch Trubisky made the Bowl bowl after multiple dropouts a few years ago....and Vince Young years ago.
Then it shows up on a resume and people say "see, he made a Pro Bowl" when they were maybe 15-20th best at their position that year.

Schultz is playing really good, but it is mostly because of the cowboys system and weapons. If Schultz gets injured, Jarwin would come in and be really good. They are not top tier talents. If Schultz wants to sign a very reasonable contract they should resign him. I was an advocate for Jarwin being big this year, but I don't think it matters. Defenses are trying to stop the run or the WR's, it is a good team to be a TE on.

Most tight ends they can draft will be productive in this system.

And Schultz is outperforming both of the guys the Patriots signed. But they raised the market to the $12 million a year range, and that’s what Schultz and his agent will be looking for.

Appreciate him while he’s still here, and then hope they have a replacement in McKeon for next year.
