He emerged last year. Clearly better than Jarwin.

What a horrific contract extension that was.

I'm often a fan of them trying to lock up a rising player early.

Jarwin made $9.8M guaranteed because he beat up a NY Giants defense who QUIT one day and convinced the team he would do more if only he wasn't behind Witten.

Terrible deal.

Jarwin will get cut in the offseason to save ~10M but take the $2M dead cap. Savings moved over to Schulz, we draft a TE for some depth and churn the position again.

It's in Schultz's best interest to stay in Dallas. He's got it pretty good here getting lost in coverage with top weapons all around him. He'd be hard pressed to be this productive elsewhere.

Do it now or prepare to draft one. The last time the Cowboys waiting, it costs them millions in Dak's contract. But if you jump too early, then the Tank and Jaylen's of the world becomes a contractual problem.

I’d like to keep him but he may play his way out of Dallas.

He’s a good solid player but a lot of his success is due to teams being ok with Dalton Schultz trying to beat them and him just being a forgotten man.

Good player, good skill, but no need to pay the guy like he is some elite TE when he is really a 4-6 mill a year player.

This is exactly right. I like our TEs. But there's nothing special about them. We've predicted on these forums before the season even started that the TE's would feast due to all of the attention going to the rest of our offense. If Jerry pays Shultz 50 million then he has more than the standard screw loose.

Any TE with a pulse can come into this offense and do what he is doing. I'd much rather have an athletic down the field TE that can open this offense up even more. There isn't enough guys to cover our weapons and worry about Zeke/Pollard so he is constantly open. There's plenty of Schultz's in every draft.

It's no secret that Schultz has become Dak's go-to guy when the pressure is on. I'll bet Bellichick is aware of it, too. ;)

I'm anxious to see McKeon performing, whenever he's ready to get some live action. We'll have some real depth at TE.
The receiving target are nearer equal among all targets our starting 2 wrs, Schulz, all have about 28 receptions..

60,40 with Zeke pollard

All this says there not any one target you can take away since its about balanced offense you will ever see..its tough to stop because there isnt one clear favorite or security blanket..run or pass

Best thing to try and do is disrupt plays ie beat the OL as it where it all starts..other than that good luck,

The franchise tag for TE will be roughly 10m and the way he’s playing, he’s worth more than that. It looks like the smart move is to franchise tag him and then either keep him or trade him.

as a super valuable weapon. Better get to work on resigning him before he is a pro-bowler. That might even be this season, which would drive the price up to 50 million.

A TE of his caliber is very important to our offense.
Been trying to tell people for years...Kellen Moore 's offense would utilize a lot of 3 TE sets...and people laughed. Just wait until he can find a blocking TE. He's sitting on a whole other package of plays that's gonna blow people's minds.

KC tried that. They're having trouble moving the chains.

Jonu Smith (26 y.o)
2019: 439 yards, 3 TD’s
2020: 448 yards, 8 TD’s
2021: 4 years, 50m (12.5m APY)

Dalton Shultz (25 y.o)
2020: 615 yards, 4 TD’s
2021: 950 yards, 10 TD’s (projected)
*Note: Shultz is a much better blocker

The franchise tag in 2022 for TE’s is expected to be around 11m (I just doubled checked) which is less than Jonu Smith’s average salary per year. So if Shultz continues playing at his current level, or anything close to it…why wouldn’t he get franchise tagged? With TE the franchise tag is anomalously low because there are really only two good ones (Kettle & Ertz) in the league getting paid. It’s lower than every other position in the NFL by a mile.

I don't know why but everyone I see Schultz I think of Old School Boys TE Crosby

He looks like a guy that spent a lot of time watching Jason Witten and is just a younger more athletic version of that, haha.

He doesn’t have a real weakness in his game.
He is not like Witten. Schultz will actually block someone.

He certainly has been an attraction so far this season. The production does not matter. He could instantly be Jacksonville's focal point on offense right now. Go chase the dollars, Dalton.

Jarwin gets paid and he's non existent. When is Dallas going through stop this practice?
Non-existent? Since when is scoring TDs, non-existent? Or are you just in the frame of mind to ignore that so you can better justify thinking it's all about Schultz?

Schultz was 11th in receiving yds last season. If that is so easy to find, then why was he 11th? And w/ terrible QBing.
