Speaking of my conspiracy theory on trade bait...maybe they are showcasing Steele to trade and not Collins. :muttley:

I don't see them trading Collins. His contract is cap friendly and with Williams leaving after this year the O-line suddenly becomes quite thin.

They may trade Williams if somebody is looking for a rental LG. But the most likely scenario is they both stay and Collins will try to win a job over either Williams or Steele.

This is a nothing burger. Collins has been away for 6 weeks.. It's going to take a minute for him to get back up to game speed. He will get his job back when he can demonstrate full capacity in practice. He'll also get some snaps in this game to show what he's got.. If he balls out he starts next week.. If he falters Steele does.. Again not rocket surgery.

Do you really think if Steele were playing poorly that Collins would not be starting this week? Seriously?

If memory serves me correct, he did play guard his rookie year and was really good at it. I am all for the 5 best players out there.

My worthless prediction is that they value continuity over talent right this second, and La'el has neither played nor practiced in 6 weeks, so they'll ease him in, let him play swing and consider the switch next week.

Steele has been a pleasant surprise but he is not better than La'el in any objective stretch of the word. He's just more available.

This will be the decision that causes Dallas to lose in the playoffs.

I can already see a sack fumble coming in a crucial moment

He played but I don't know that he was better at it or even good. He did it a couple of seasons but got hurt; personally I think they forced him to start over Leary and that was a mistake.

Do you really think that Steele playing well doesn't impact the coaches' ability to work Collins back in slowly? All the factors interrelate. Steele's play, Collins' rust, continuity on the line.. All a part of it. Of course Collins would start if Steele was getting Chaz Greened.. What's your point?

someone might trade a 2nd for Connor Williams and then pay him a long term contract

No way. He’s got a good contract. A team would give up assets for him.

He’s got value.

Quality offensive lineman are NFL gold.
Dude just hates Collins lol. Every oline thread you’ll see him talk about how he thinks his career is over at any minute.

Some of ya'll really think you know more about building a Oline more than Philbin.... Collins isn't ready.. He'll be gradually worked in at some point...

I would love that, heck, even getting a 3rd for him would be great.
Now, I don't think CW is as bad as many say. But that deal you could not pass up.

wow all the overreactions are priceless..

this is simply to get Collins body and mind back into it slower..im betting hes back at RT the following week..they may simply trying not to upset the flow right after a bye..give the player whos ready rights now the snaps but LC will then have 2 full weeks of practice to get back at it..

steele did NOT take LCs job that not what anyone said only implied by beat writer who not much more in tune with anything then we are..

now if somehow steele remains there and Collins is used at LG well ill ask this,

why didnt McGovern get that shot first , hes the swing guard?

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..

I asked for that move and they are actually looking at him at guard?

It’s hard not to read into this..

Are the Cowboys upset with him? Are they trying to motivate him? Do they just think Steele is better (doubtful).

Or.. Or… Is their a trade in the world before the deadline next week and by doing this it kinda sends a message to the league?

They really like Steele to do this.

Hopefully this means Williams will he holding the bench.
