Can we Finish

Two of the best teams the Cowboys had since their last Super Bowl win faded in December. The 12-4 2007 team was 1-3 In December and the 13-3 2016 team was 2-2 in Dec/Jan. The current team is 2-3 their last 5 games. So far we’re 1-0 in December with 5 games left. Sunday’s game with Washington will give us a good indication of which direction the Cowboys are headed in Dec/Jan.

Yep to expect PERFECT health in mid DEC would be a bit unrealistic but we are in pretty darn good shape all things considered and we need this win if we are going to move forward . A loss here and the Ghost of opportunities past will haunt us the rest of the season

I’m not convinced the health of the team has caused us to regress. Denver had a number of players out when they pounded us back in October. Arizona has been winning despite the loss of Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins. With the players we’re getting back there won’t be any excuses on Sunday, but someone is bound to use Pollard as an excuse if he can’t go and we lose. Naturally some will blame the officiating if the game doesn’t go our way. We have a few bozos that are convinced that the league is holding the Cowboys back.

I am in agreement with all that just dont think we should be hurting as much on offense as we are especially as much as we have invested there and we are in pretty fair health .
A couple things stand out to me Penalties for one and Dak no longer getting us any first downs with his legs when it used to 25 a year now we have 2 . Thats a big difference IMO . In hopes Dlaw and Gregory provide enough pressure for our young playmakers to get some TOs.. I agree we have enough talent at receiver to weather the storm till Zeke and Tony are fully healthy but if I was putting money on it I would say they are both playing
Our RBs playing is a different thing than them doing us any good. Zeke is still good for third downs to pick up the blitz. Penalities are just something they have to work on. Dak running the ball is no longer part of the offensive scheme so if you see him doing it like that one rushing TD, then you know everything else broke down and Dak was just free-styling. We can't afford to lose him so I think it is a good thing. But of course, that philosophy will be out the window if our Cowboys get to the Super Bowl.

I agree wholeheartedly before Tyron got back we could not run our offense whatsoever. Just saying in the past when this would happen and the Oline was banged up or not performing Dak would throw it on his back and run for some yrds to move the chains and keep the drive going . Now he dose not .

To your point along with the fact that they are under performing another continuing problem is the penalties, they keep getting called for creating unmanageable down and distance situations.

Our sad truth is at this point in the season this is probably as healthy and talented as this Oline is going to get so Im not sure if I see things improving there
I do think if Dak would run once in a while it would give defenses something else to game plan for and make things a bit easier on our line so they wouldnt have to hold blocks so long and possibly get less penalties .

I would go as far to say If Dak ran the ball 5x and had 30yrds rushing we beat the Skins
Agreed, bro!!

Who are the finishers on this team ??? Not our coach with his suspect clock management, surely not our inconsistent kicker . These are 2 things good teams depend on for a playoff run .

How about our QB?? He used to be a finisher but now since he got Paid and Injured he seems to refuse to use his legs to move the chains anymore when we are struggling . DCs around the league have scratched Dak running off their list of things to plan for when facing us and it hurts us that Dak will not run once in a while and keep defenses honest . At this stage in his career he should know when he can run and protect himself . Its a dimension of our offense that is nonexistent now .
Our RBs Pollard is a finisher !!! But now both are a bit banged up
O Line seems to all depend on Tyrons health and that is suspect at best so no we cant hang our hat on them . Plus drive-killing penalties
WR some frustrating drops at times but they border on being able to finish.

How about our defense Parsons is definitely a FINISHER and a true throwback type player that I think we can all appreciate . Diggs another finisher But The Defense as a whole gets totally gashed on a consistent basis by bad teams as well as good and is only saved by the TOs that Diggs and Parsons create . Veteran QBs that dont make mistakes will kill this defense

We have the ultimate opportunity to FINISH off our division with the remaining games against division teams except for Cards and go into the playoffs strong . We come into this weeks game as healthy and rested as anyone could want at this point in the season with guys returning on the Dline . If Dak continues to make business decisions and lets us go 3 and out we will lose to the Football team and be lucky to even make the playoffs . Thoughts??
Finish what? We are finally getting half our starters back. This is just the beginning.

Lol……wow…..a 15 million dollar blitz picker upper.

We haven't even started.

On Sunday we will see what we always expected but never got due to a series of unfortunate events. Parts of it is a little beat up at the moment, but I expect a real surge in other areas.

The three receivers should be healthier. The D-line will be manned by the guys we expected. And then there is Parsons and Diggs.

The real Dallas Cowboys start on Sunday against an historic rival.

Mamies little baby loves shortnin' shortnin'... Mamies little baby loves shornin' bread! Bring on the bread...bring on the butta', Mamies little baby loves shortnin' bread.

DC and ST coaches.

Id like to see DC on the sidelines his players respond to him.
But if healthy , the DL rotation will cause severe distress on offenses starting Sunday

I agree it will be hard to match their energy level in their house . We have the more talented team but if we start getting penalties that we cant overcome and start going 3 and out the energy will get sucked out of us fast .
This is where coaching comes in this needs to be addressed during the week and people need to be held accountable for these drive killing penalties
couldn't agree more. This doesn't get the attention it deserves.

I prefer 2 have DQ on the sidelines every game. Maybe thats just me. I think he can take the pulse of the defense better than being in the coaches box.

that's a negative ghost rider. maybe we get hot and can win a playoff game but I doubt it.

My feeling is if we can finish strong with say 11 wins we have a chance but if we get pummeled by our division opponents in the last few games and back into the tournament on some kind of tie-breaker we are done

I think your spot on. But I think the answer will be somewhere in between. We been mediocre , tepid for 26 years. With 2-3 years of playoff success. I think the new norm for this fanbase/team was set by JJ himself, whether he realizes it or not. Not sure he cares really as long as HE is making money and garnering attention. Until the fans ..which is US...picket, with pitchforks in hand demanding real results, this may well continue. Lets see if this is the year we turn it all around.

Agreed Roy we are getting our starters back so there are no excuses against a division rival with bad health and a back up QB . The Skins are on a good roll and are giving it their all but there is no reason we should lose unless the coaches do not prepare us right .
Sunday will tell if this is the begining or the begining of the end .

FINISH WHAT You say !!! Look at the schedule Finish off our divisional opponents that could rob us an opportunity for a playoff birth . Its every bit in front of us as much as it is them . Its who wants it MORE !! ITS WHO CAN FINISH!!!

LOVE IT . ITs all there for the taking we totally control our own destiny against division rivals that we have more than enough talent to beat . Now is time for the play makers to step up and FINISH!!
